I'm Bothered! Why Do People Bother Much About Genotype... AS cannot Marry AS... AA can Marry AS and AA... AS can Marry Only AA... What Are The Chances Of AS and AS birthing SS...

Back In The Days, our Parents Never Checked Genotypes before Marryin Their Partners and The Had Healthy Kids. When Now Do We Bother About Genotypes?

The Fear Is Separating Partners and I Strongly Believe That AS and AS can Have Healthy Children Without Worries...

You Can Not Tell Me That All The Healthy Children Today Are From AA and AS / AA and AA.

What Are The Chances Of AS and AS having SS?

How true is this

This post reeks of ignorance and assumptions. A simple Google search of mortality rate and prevalence of AS /SS patients would have prevented this

People wouldn't worry so much about genotype if it wasn't such an issue.

The chances of an AS and AS couple birthing SS is 50:50.

It's simply genetics. Mendel's law of independent assortment.

It's the same chance of birthing a male or female child.

True, back in those days couples never checked before marrying, but the mortality rate was high. The ignorance of our people then always made them tag the sickness behind those death as something else except an unexplained genetic condition.

AS and AS can have healthy children. Some people have been lucky but that doesn't mean it's not a dangerous game of chance. The only sure way to birth healthy children may be through IVF and not many people can afford it.

As odd as it may sound, those healthy children must have come only from a healthy hereditary line.

If you are contemplating breeding with an AS and you are also a AS, please speak to a doctor. Surely, you don't want to birth an SS child that constantly live in pain and keeps asking you why you were cruel enough to birth him or her.

PS. You should read more on genetics.

Our grandparents did not have healthy kids. They just believed they were powerful kids who chose to make their parents cry by dying and returning many times. Most of our parents lost at least 2 siblings to their parents' ignorance. Ever wondered why there aren't abikus and ogbanjes anymore? If genotype is not an issue, you won't see so many people worrying about it. Please get more information on the subject.
