As we paint the world red and white today, material gifts are fast becoming the only proof of love. Nevertheless, sharing love is important but spreading love is 'importanter'. The beautiful roses, greeting cards, fragrances, val cakes would have meant so much, if shared with those who really needed it.

Ours is a quid pro quo world: you do for me and I’ll do for you. While there is nothing wrong in reciprocating a good deed, there’s a fundamental problem with quid pro quo. It is easier to give love to those who can give back. However, it is not yet love until we give to those who cannot reciprocate. We cannot underrate the impact of the hundred NGOs and humanitarians who are striving daily to intervene in the overwhelming challenges. the government is swift to make promises than commitments. How long do we wait for the dead to rise again?

Travelling round unimaginable places in some parts of Nigeria, I may not refute that this is the headquarters of poverty in the world. We tend to the grumble and complain about almost everything - job, boss, colleagues, customers, clients, the country or the community. While we complain of the worsen state of our country, it’s also up to us to offer a helping hand to just someone struggling to climb the ladder.

Who says you must be in the seat of power to change Nigeria? If PVCs only can make Nigeria better, we would have gotten extra PVCs. If you think having a billion dollar in your account is a prerequisite to impact lives, then you’re not being sincere. Your used textbooks, clothes mean a lot to just someone who really needs them. Give away some of the things you no longer need, use or wear. Others would be happy to have it. If you look deeply inside, you have more than enough to help a life. Your data subscription fee for a month is what a child needs to pay his school fees in some public schools. Share your resources. Share your time. Share your stories. It may be all someone needs to achieve their dreams. Look for opportunities to help just one. Not necessarily financially. When you invest in just one person, you invest in a generation.

Someone’s act of kindness also determined where you are today. Irrespective of tribe and religion, take a risk on someone’s future today. Don’t let your grave to be the only evidence that you once lived. Touch a life, put a smile on a face, be the reason why someone will succeed. Whether a smile, a hug, a kind word, a phone call, a listening ear, volunteer, help with an errand, a prayer, an encouraging note or a meal. Helping others isn’t always easy. Giving may take time, money or other resources. It may take us out of our way. It may even be interpreted the wrong way. However, it is the fastest route to a better Nigeria. Give more! Help more! Serve more! Kindness is the only language the deaf can hear.

It's a season of love and I’m giving out my ebook for free download, please share with others
