Completing regular maintenance is vital to maintain the performance of your car, truck or SUV. However, sometimes there are problems with the car, and in each vehicle there are certain warning signs. To reduce the likelihood of breakdowns and costly repairs, we have listed the 10 most common automotive problems that generally arise.

1. SIGNAL LIGHTS

Preventing or checking engine status is the most common problem for owners of cars, trucks and SUVs. These lights come on when the vehicle's ECU (engine control unit) detects an error code generated by the sensor. Since there are more than 200 possible warning codes, the best way to determine the source and make
the correct repair is to pass an inspection lamp by a professional mechanic.

2. A SPUTTERING ENGINE

The engine works best when the air and fuel mix and burn properly in the combustion chamber. To complete this process effectively, several components of the ignition and fuel system must work together. Although many moving parts help the engine to function normally, its spraying or misfiring is one of the main problems. To reduce the problems of motor splashes or jumps, be sure to replace the fuel supply system components and the ignition according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

3. LOW BATTERY

The life span of most automotive batteries is approximately three years or 50,000 miles. An exhausted battery usually arises due to lower amperes or electrical currents that naturally decrease as the battery loses its ability to hold a charge. A damaged alternator, a battery temperature sensor or other components of the charging system can accelerate this problem. It is best to replace the car's battery every 50,000 miles or three years, even if it shows no signs of damage.

4. FLAT TIRES

While most tires become flat after being hit or punctured, simple wear can be the main source. Extend the life of your tires by keeping them properly rotated, as recommended by the manufacturer of your car. As a general rule, the best advice is to rotate the tires every 5,000 miles (or when you change the engine oil).

5. SCREECHING BRAKES OR SQUEAKING

Like any other moving part of your car, the braking system is designed to be used for a certain period of time. Brakes are vital for a safe stop, so when they show signs of trouble, such as squeaky pedals, squeaks or soft brakes, a professional mechanic should check them as soon as possible. This is a clear signal that it needs to be replaced.

6. ALTERNATOR FAILURE

An alternator is a part of your car that supports all electrical systems when you start a car. It is also responsible for charging the battery to maintain it in optimal conditions. If the generator fails, it can cause premature battery wear and other problems during startup. Check the recommended maintenance intervals and replace the generator before it breaks to avoid this problem.

7. BROKEN STARTER

The starter motor is responsible for starting the motor, which starts the starting process. When this component fails, it usually occurs due to electrical solenoid damage, starter failure or other electrical faults, such as a start relay. Even though the starter motor can be replaced before it breaks, it is difficult to predict when this will happen. It is better to perform an inspection when starting the car to determine the problem before assuming it is a starter.

8. STEERING WHEEL SHAKING

Numerous problems can cause jerking in the direction while driving. If this happens immediately after you start your car and start driving, it is often caused by damaged wheel bearings or suspension elements. If this happens at higher speeds, it is usually a problem of wheel and wheel balancing. In any case, having a professional mechanic to inspect the car in your area is the best way to diagnose and solve this problem correctly.

9. OVERHEATING

You may suspect that overheating is higher on this list, but in reality this rarely happens. In most modern cars, the cooling system is very complex and contains several sensors that control the temperature of the coolant, the flow rate and other components. Keeping abreast of the radiator wash service and changing the water pump before it breaks is two simple ways to reduce the possibility of overheating.

10. AUTOMATIC SLIP TRANSMISSION

With proper maintenance, an automatic transmission can easily drive more than 200,000 miles. A modern automatic transmission is a hydraulic system consisting of several seals, gaskets and lines that can be damaged, clogged or leaked. When this happens, the transmission will "slide" or it will not move smoothly. To avoid this common automobile problem, stick to the recommended transmission service for your car.
