One aspect of agriculture that is fast booming and attention is less paid to, is the aspect of "fish farming"... Depending on the species of fish you intend to invest in, one can be assured of making harvests ranging from hundred of naira to millions of naira...

I and three of my friends have decided to start a fish farm... Over the next few weeks, I am gonna be relating with all of you with regards to our development, progress made, challenges faced etc...

Am gonna start as soon as I get up to a 20 comments , just to make sure that at least someone is actually benefitting ....

WEEK ONE; DAY ONE ....


We were lucky enough; at the back of our compound was an abandoned fish pond that was last used in the early 90s...

So we decided to amend the abandoned pond to our taste and satisfaction.. The pond is over 2ft in depth, although the length and width are unequal.. But it was good enough for our use.

We started work by breaking the left-over of the deteriorating floor in other to make a new floor...

WEEK ONE; DAY TWO

After breaking the old floor, we proceeded to cementing the floor again; during this period, we made patches of any existing holes on the walls...

Our next major job was creating a water outlet; this is the medium through which used water will be changed on frequent basis...

The nature of pipes we plan on using are plastic pipes, and attached to mouth of the pipe will be a net (so as not to allow the fingerlings to escape during water drainage)...

Also, at the drainage point was a 'water control switch" where we can turn ON or OFF the water when ever we wanted...
