Guy, i will not like to decieve you, that very D3000 is not a solid product. I bought it for 80,000 and i can beat my chest and tell you i only used it for 2 weeks and as i am writing this now the camera is still with the engineer trying to fix it. Reason, the parts are not in the market and the engineer told me the product is not concrete.
I recommend you go for Nikon D60 or 70 or if you have the money go for D100 or you can go for Canon 400 or 450 if you have the money. The nikon D60 will cost you up to 90 Grand if you want to go for it,and the canon 400 or 450 will be up to 120 or that category.but its worth it brother.I am talking from xperience.

I have not used this camera before, but i comes at a very high recommenation. Am sure you must have purchased a defective one. Canon's i known not to be user friendly.

I will disagree that the D3000 is not a solid product, upon release all products are certified, it's just unfortunate that you got a defective one. The D3000 is ok, but chances are that you may outgrow it very fast as it is aimed at beginners. though not as solid as the D60 and D70 (which you may not get new anymore).
You may consider the Nikon D3100, Canon 1000D and 450D. Also consider the availability and cost of lenses and accessories.

The Nikon D3000 is a wonderful piece of camera and like someone said, its unfortunate you purchase a defective one. I got mine at "Games" (Palms Lekki) for a bargain price of N72500 and I have had it for a month now. Its a beginners camera and you can learn the ropes of professional DSLR camera using it.

How how much will you people advice me to sell mine if I want to sell it? Its a gift from the US, and it works perfectly, no stain no scratch, I used it twice

I just got it less then 2 months at the "GAMES" shop at Palms in Lekki and even in Oshodi where they sell photography equipments and sundries, I still got a bargain price of N75000 this weekend past(Saturday 11-09-2010). I am not interested in his buying or your selling but if you guys can strike a good bargain please do. Like I said, it is a wonderful piece of camera for learning professional photography.

Nikon D3000 US is a solid camera. Most gadgets are high quality if they are manufactured for the US, Europe and Canada quality standards.

You can buy the same gadget, by the same manufacturer and one would be a scrap quality while the other will be solid.

Most of the ones imported directly to Nigeria from china have less than 25% quality control standard rating, thats why

you can get it at N75k and the other N95K for the same product.

N.B I worked witha company that makes circuitry for the cameras and I have traveled to plants in China several times, so I know
that it the difference in quality control is white and black clear.

Regarding price, I have no idea in Nigeria but it's a $600 item with a two lense kit.
