ABOUT NIGERIA INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC RELATIONS

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) is one of the major professional bodies in the field of communication in Nigeria. This is one of the professional organizations most graduates of Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations and Advertising, English Language, and related disciplines want to join after school. Graduates of other disciplines who wish to practice Public Relations in Nigeria also desire to be members of the NIPR.

TYPES OF NIPR EXAMINATIONS

Two types of examinations are conducted by the institute namely:
(i) The Professional Certificate Examinations and
(ii) The Professional Diploma Examinations

There are 10 papers in the Professional Certificate stage with 5 papers in part one and two respectively.

The Professional Diploma is a five paper examination which is case study oriented. It is the third part of NIPR professional examinations.

One can write the Professional Certificate and Professional Diploma examination in one year and CHARTERED IN PUBLIC RELATIONS

MARKET VALUE OF THE NIPR CREDENTIALS (CERTIFICATES)

It is pertinent to emphasize the market value of the NIPR credentials. The Federal Ministry of Education has approved the NIPR Certificate as equivalent to a National Diploma, while the NIPR Diploma has the same standard as the Higher National Diploma or a Bachelor’s degree.

With a Professional Diploma in Public Relations, you can progress to do your Masters degree in the university. In University of Ibadan, you can use it to do Masters in Communication Arts. In LASU you can use it for master in Communication Studies. In UNN, you can use it for Masters in Public Relation etc.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: SSCE O’Levels with credit in Mathematics and English.

Ok. Though it looks absurd if NIPR insists on credit in Maths & not English, when a person has first degree & Masters with a pass in Maths.
