RIP to the deceased.

Recent events don't make this world an interesting place to live in again seriously.

Flying is still the safest means of transportation, it's just that one air disaster gulps down human souls like men gulp down bottles of beer.

And it's also true that air disasters usually grab more attention because famous people are usually on board.

There are fatal car crashes everyday that we don't even hear about, because the victims are not famous. Meanwhile, most fatal plane crashes kill people that are well known and therefore they become major news items and are talked about for a long time.

It's also true that, due to the fact that plane crashes are rarer, they are more newsworthy (news is an account of unusual events in society), while car crashes are almost a daily occurrence and therefore, they are not reported as widely in the media.

Bruh it is almost impossible for the black box to be destroyed.

Safer than ships? The probability of surviving in the latter is still high than a plane.

airplane crashes get more attention from the media and it's not because they're famous people in it.

That actually is one of the reasons. The elites fly more than the poor and every time that there's a plane crash the media talks about the famous people that died in the crash.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Levi Ajuonema, Ibrahim Abacha, Ehime Aikhomu, Maria Sokenu, etc. the media talks about these people for a long time after the crash, even after it has stopped talking about others that died in the crash.

Meanwhile, regular people die in car crashes every day and it's not mentioned much, but when a celebrity dies in a car crash or is involved in a car crash (eg, Ibinabo Fiberesima, Princess Diana) . . .

Sure celebs would get media coverage when it's got to do with a road accidents or minor accidents while others are kind of forgotten. But still I disagree with you saying celebs make air crashes famous.

Hey, you have every right to disagree. I initially started thinking about it more than 15 years ago when an aviation expert made the point and every accident sonce then has confirmed what he said.

Note, like I said in my earlier post, it's not the only reason (other reasons include frequency), but it is one of the reasons.
