Too Many Churches, Too Many Fake Christians

There are more churches in Nigeria than any other nation on earth. But the credibility of most of them is in doubt, because the more you look at the congregants the less Christianity you see in their lives outside the walls of their churches.

As our Lord and Master Jesus Christ our MESSIAH said that by their fruits you shall know them, the fruits of these churches are rotten.
I do not see much difference in the lives of the so called Christians and pagans. In fact, the pagans in Nigeria fear their juju voodoo more than these Nigerian Christians fear GOD.

How can we have millions of people who claim to be regular churchgoers and yet Nigeria is one of the most corrupt countries on earth.

The police officers extorting money from motorists on the road are still showing up in church to increase the congregations of hypocrites.
The covetous and greedy parents who have turned to the pimps of their giddy-giddy daughters are also the so called Christian mothers and elders in the churches.

Majority of the looters in the National Assembly and state assemblies, Local Government and Council offices and other public offices are still the same people sharing the pews with you in the church.

The same impressionable and innocent brothers and sisters posing and posturing as your fellow Christians are still the same cheating, lying, stealing and plotting more evils to harm and even kill others.

Well, you can know them by their fruits and separate the bad apples from the good ones.

Not even Ecclesia?

What are they? And what is the definition of a genuine christian? How will we know a genuine church? What attributes does it have?

I see the situation as one of two options.

1) It is either that christianity hasn't been tried in Nigeria.

or 2) They are really christians, but christianity itself is a failure. It has failed to deliver on it's claims. It has not washed any corruption away and it has failed to make new men and new women, 'new creations'.

There is little need to go further and accept the plain simple truth that Christianity is simply a place of comfort when we find ourselves on the harsher path of life or have concerns about the uncertainty of life or simply wish to live by some moral/religious code perhaps to conform to society's norms and accepted social values. heck it can even be of some spiritual/personal benefit. but what is certain that as the world's 3rd largest christian nation. all the commonly known virtues and benefits of Christianity have eluded us since the Colonialist Missionaries introduced it to Nigeria in the first place.

to quote an rather over-used Bible parlance, "By their Fruits, you shall know them" our Christian fruits are not evidential of God's presence or favour in this damned country

DO NOT BLAME THE SPRING FOR THE MESS IN THE POOL.
BLAME THE BRUTES WHO MESSED THE POOL.

There are Christians in developed nations and their lives are the success stories of their Christian faith.
Have you been to South Korea?
See the ways of life of the Christians in Asia compared to those in Africa.
Even compare the lives of Christians in Ghana to those who claim to be "Christians" in Nigeria.

The problem is not with JESUS CHRIST, but with the hypocrites in Nigeria who claim to be "Christians".
Read the complete gospel of Jesus Christ and know that the truth is the foundation of our faith and our faith is our strength.
But when we do not live according to the truth, our fake ways will jeopardize our faith and without faith, our strength will fail.

What do you expect? The WORLD has infiltrated the CHURCH! Many came into the Church and brought the world in with them! They are supposed to leave the world behind! Ye cannot serve God and mammon! Jesus said there are those he will say to 'go away from me, you workers of iniquity'. They will be Christians/Churchgoers who refused to let go of the world; the ones who profess Christ but do not bear any fruits that resemble whom they profess!

they are one and the same. countless of lives lost historically and lands of others pillaged in the name of crusades and spreading the gospel, priest sleeping with little boys, and here in naija, kids abused as child witches and ofcourse, the biggest con ever, the money angle; men of gawd reaping their followers blind of hard end cash, living lavishly while their mumu followers wallow in abject poverty

All the churches are all competing against one another. There are churches who are of the same denomination, in the same town, the same diocese, which mean they have the same beliefs and worship the same God. Yet, they never come together. What is so ironic is that these churchgoers all feel that church is the place for unification and love.

You are correct. And they failed to learn from the warning of our Lord and Messiah Jesus Christ.
