Early Morning Accident In Lagos Claims Three Lives by oriauwa: 4:53pm On Sep 02, 2010 |
Three persons lost their lives in Lagos on Thursday when their cars ran into a stationary truck on the Third Mainland Bridge, reports the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). A police source told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the accident occurred at about 2 A.M. when two cars ran into the articulated vehicle resulting in the death of the occupants of the smaller vehicles. The source claimed that the articulated vehicle which belonged to group of companies, had broken down late on Wednesday on the bridge. The bodies of the three victims had been removed by their family members for burial as they were said to be Muslims. The articulated vehicle had been towed by LASTMA officials to the police vehicle yard in Ijora, while the two cars had been towed to LASTMA compound in Obalende. An official of the Lagos State Transport Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr Afolabi Ogunsowo, who was seen controlling traffic in the area, told NAN that traffic officials moved to the scene early Thursday to divert vehicular movement. The accident caused a serious early morning traffic jam on Adekunle end of the Third Mainland Bridge. http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5614053-146/story.csp |

Most likely the street lights weren`t functioning. Sometimes the headlight might not be enough to the see what is in the front. Why didn`t LASTMA officials tow the vehicle before it claim lives? Probe further you will uncover, It`s really painful to loose lives this way |

Siena: Yeah, but broken down vehicles in Nigeria hardly inform (through C-caution and other alerts) other road users about the deadly obstacle they have created. |

Thats really sad, I wonder whether the truck had reflectors. A broken down vehicle on a bridge, what the hell was it doing there all night long!? That is gross negligence. LASTMA should put measures in place avert such scene. My goodness! It was too late. |

Re: Early Morning Accident In Lagos Claims Three Lives by 1759(m): 3:23pm On Sep 03, 2010 |
If LASTMA/FRSC/Police had been alive to their responsibilities this would not have happened. Why was the truck left on the bridge for so long? It was only towed after lives had been lost. |
Re: Early Morning Accident In Lagos Claims Three Lives by texazzpete(m): 3:39pm On Sep 03, 2010 |
1759: If you had taken the time to read properly, you'd have seen that the truck broke down late on Wednesday night and the accident happened only a few hours later. |

With all the infrastructural facilities and development Fashola has been working on, I wonder why its taking him a hard time to fix the street light from the start to the end of that bridge. Sometimes I feel they have a contract with demons underneath the water to make things as dark as possible in order for more deadlier things to occur. |

Though it's a sad thing to hear, but at the same time we should give thanks to ALMIGHTY ALLAH that kiiled them in the holy month of Ramada, cox all the gate of hell has been closed and all the gate of paradise are let open, Not only that, devil and his host are under boundage right now, so if you are sad about their situation you should at the same time thank ALLAH for the , only if they did not worhip any other thing except the GOD that create the heaven and earth, |

May the dear souls of the departed rest in perfect peace. I saw one of the cars which ran into the stationary truck and it was a very sore sight. The authorities should ensure that our streets and roads are illuminated. If the bridge had been, then maybe this loss would not have occurred. In addition, motorists are advised to ensure that their car lights are working - it can only save you. |
