Lack of vitamin C in the body can lead to a bleeding gum. Vitamin C also hastens healing process; Therefore, it is advisable to take food rich in vitamin C such as cabbage, sweet and white potatoes, Green and Red pepper. Usually vitamin C tablet is available as Over-The-Counter drug; however, it is advisable to use it after consulting your dentist who will determine the cause of the gum bleeding and proffer solutions accordingly. Not all bleeding gum are treatable with vitamin C tablet. Vitamin K is an important nutrient that assists in blood clotting, its deficiency can lead to gum bleeding. If your dentist identifies this as the possible cause of gum bleeding, you may need to be placed on recommended vitamin K supplements.


APPLYING COLD COMPRESS

This works particularly for gum bleeding resulting from trauma. Application of neat gauze or cotton wool soaked in ice water on the gum can reduce bleeding. Cold compress can reduce the inflammatory process as well as limit blood flow.

TREATING UNDERLYING MEDICAL DISORDERS

Medical disorders such as hemophilia, leukaemia usually manifest in the mouth as gum bleeding. The solution, in this case, is to treat the underlying disorders. Your dentist would make a referral to a specialist for further management
