The Word of God in the bible strongly warns us in Lev 19:16 not to go about as an slander. Prov 11:13,20:19 states that "He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets." Such behaviors are despicable. Jeremiah 6;28 even when as far as qualifying such people as the following:"The worst kind of rebels", "Full of slander" and "As hard as bronze and Iron"(Stone hearted people). Their actions leads others to corruption. Such people are labelled as "Rejected Silver" by God. The Lord has discarded such people from his presence.(Their prayers are not answered, and they cannot come into the presence of God)

The Bible evaluates Gossiping as the following
1. The product of a corrupt mind (Roman 1:28) full of all kinds of evil
2.  Stirs up trouble everywhere it shows up
3.  It is a breaker of relationship. (Prov 16:28) Separates friends.
4. Committed by those who lack self control.

In an essence, Gossip is an epidemic among those who do not know God. Gossip is a sin. It is Diabolic. Contrary to the character of God. Ego enhancing. Tearing others down to bulild self up. It violates and dissipates "Community of Trust" in the body of Christ. Destructive and divisive.

How to avoid Gossip

1.  Learn to cultivate the Spirit of Love in the Heart (1 Corin 13:4-6)

2.  Choose a mindset that is holy and let the fear of God in you to be paramount.

3. Do not say anything about another person that your would not be willing to say directly.

4.  Our response to someone that begins to gossip should be the following
  A. Don't participate (I call it Zero Tolerance)
  B. Avoidance is the Key
  C. Change the subject
  D. Confront (I call this link up the bearer of the gossip and the victim together if need be)

In stead of  Gossip, let us choose the face to face approach if the issue really needs to be told. Preaching and counselling is another way round it.
Or if need be, tell those in a position of Authority (Confidentially should be noted.)

yes you are right , a gossiper is worst than a serial killer , a gossiper makes his target a living dead and the aim is to isolate its victim and build haters for him.
