*COST OF SANDFILLING YOUR LAND:*

If your are building on a water logged plot your foundation is likely to be a "raft" foundation which shoots out of the ground instead of the strip foundation where the contractor digs into the earth.

In addition, to ensure that the site is well drained the raft should be above the road level and this means the compound has to be filled with sand.


There are two (2) types of materials used to fill the site:

LATERITE earth filling(a reddish sand) which is usually transported from the shagamu axis &

SHARP sand filling(a finer white stand)which is pumped from the lagoon bed.

The Laterite Earth filling cost an average of #15,000 thousand naira per 10ton tipper depending on Location..

While the Sharp Sand filling cost an average of #45,000thousand naira per 20ton tipper.

The amount required for sand-filling varies from site to site & is dependent on factors like:
Size of the plot, heights of the raft etc.

Typically for a private detached house on a plot of about 600sqm an average of 5 tipper load of 20tons is about the quantity required.

Our layman builders are advised to consult a quantity surveyor for the right measurements.
