The Toyota Hiace is a vehicle that needs no introduction. One can often notice this van or bus carrying cargo and people in Africa, especially Nigeria.
The Toyota Hiace was first introduced in 1967, and today you will find the sixth generation of the Toyota Hiace with is 2019 model.

Since its launch in 1967, the Toyota Hiace has become one of the representative vehicles of the brand. In fact, up till now, almost 6.24 million units have been sold in around 150 countries. One of the reasons for such excellent numbers is its reputation of its reliability and durability.

Design
The Hiace 2019 has a semi-bonnet design which lets you easily access it without compromising on the shielding of the front passenger and the driver from the vibration and heat of the engine. This semi-bonnet design also offers benefits in terms of crash safety. Reports claim that the Hiace 2019 scored five-star ratings in the EuroNCAP crash tests.

The vehicle has an all-new body which is based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA). The new Hiace is available in standard and high roof. The total height of the standard regular-roof model has increased by 10 mm, width by 255mm and length by 570mm. The cargo van with two seats is offered in standard roof andy high roof configurations. The commuter model of the Hiace, the high-roof will provide you with a number of seating options that can accommodate around seventeen people. The standard-roof commuter model isn’t available any more.

It will be offered in a few different configurations: a two-seater in long- and super-long wheelbase guise, a five-seat long-wheelbase crew van, and 12-seat super-long wheelbase Commuter buses.
Safety: It is expected to carry a five-star ANCAP rating in its safest guise.

Technology: Toyota has confirmed the new HiAce will be offered with autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, a rear-view camera, nine airbags (depending on model, naturally), and an optional digital rear-view mirror.
Toyota says the switch to a ‘semi-bonneted design’ has allowed it to fit new engines, create a more rigid frame, and offer more pliant suspension.

Engine: Power will come from a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel or 3.5-litre naturally-aspirated V6 petrol, both offered with a choice of manual and automatic transmissions.
It is reported that the 2.8L diesel is borrowed from the HiLux , while the petrol is from the Chinese-market
Prado.


Load Capacity and Pricing: At its most accomodating, the new HiAce will offer a load bay measuring between 6.2 and 9.3 cubic metres, thanks to the longer wheelbase and packaging changes designed to free up more space without increasing exterior width.
Toyota says the new HiAce will be arriving in local showrooms in mid-2019 , with pricing and specifications data to be revealed closer to launch but it is expected to cost at least N19,000,000 in Nigeria.

The van looks cool, that said, the last generation cost anywhere between 27-30m brand new from Toyota approved dealerships in Nigeria. I wonder what this would cost in real time piece (disregarding your online price tag)

It is Mercedes Benz Sprinter that is between 23m-30million/.


For this model, we expect anything from N19million.

Also note that transportation companies in Nigeria now buy Chinese copycats of these these popular brands, which are cheaper.

I think you mean BIM (Bob Izua Motors). Most transport companies now buy Chinese copycat of Mercedes Benz Sprinter (which is more comfortable).

True.Just like the volkswagen transporter TDI Cross country introduced some years back.

Very comfortable and does not refuel from Lagos to Abuja.
