OVERVIEW:
The Introduction to Electrical Power Systems and Machines training course will help you to understand the basic concepts of power system engineering and how to start a successful career in power engineering. You will learn the fundamentals of electrical systems, main components of power systems, electrical machines and power system operation.
This course gives you a sufficient knowledge to understand the different components of a power system such as: generators, transmission lines and distribution systems, switchgears, transformers, loads, circuit breakers, current and voltage transformers, and grounding components. Furthermore, electrical machine topic covers the main different types of electrical machines used in power systems.

OBJECTIVES:

 demonstrate an understanding of electrical systems, switchgear and circuit types
 diagnose basic faults and recognize their associated symptoms
 work with a range of cable types and carry out correct terminations and connections
 recognize the most common industrial motor types and understand their operation, connections and maintenance requirements

METHODOLOGY:
The 5-day training will consist of lectures, exercises and hands-on training. The training will be delivered through power point presentations, Illustrative reading materials, exercise and practical activities. Practical will be based on a hands-on approach with focus on electrical power systems and machines. Participants will be given opportunities to work with a wide range of equipment that will support their knowledge in the field.
