Here’s how to activate 4G LTE on your Android smartphone

4G LTE is pretty common these days. Odds are your phone supports it. But what if you find you aren’t getting 4G LTE speeds? First, you’ll want to double check your plan and phone do in fact support 4G. After you verify that your phone and network should be on 4G, there’s one other step you can take.

While 4G LTE should automatically activate on its own, in some cases it doesn’t. Thankfully, it’s possible to manually activate 4G speeds on your phone.



Because some smartphones may have different ways to activiate 4G, we are breaking down the specifics on how access the faster network speeds for a few of the more popular phone makers.
How to activate 4G on LG
If you own an LG phone, you can go into the phone’s Settings menu, then tap on the Tethering & Networks option, then tap on the Mobile Network selection. Finally, tap on the Network Mode. If you see LTE listed among the choices, just tap on that to activate LTE 4G and you should be all set.

If, for some reason, the LTE network is not in the Network Mode section, you will have to try something else to activate 3G/4G on the LG phone. First, go to your phone dialer and type in or paste *#*#4636#*#*. Then you should see a menu open up. Tap on the Phone Info option and then go to the Pick Prefered Network Type selection. You then press on the drop down box and select the LTE network option.

This code "*#*#4636#*#*" works for upgrading your phone to 3G/4G or both 2G/3G and 4G.
How to activate 4G on Samsung

In order to activate LTE 4G on a Samsung phone, first go to the Settings menu, then tap on the Connections selection. Scroll down to Mobile Networks, tap on it and then tap on the Network Mode. You should see LTE network selections and just pick the one that is best suited for your wireless network.

The way to activate LTE 4G speeds on your HTC phone is similar to the method used for Samsung phones. Go to the Settings menu, then scroll down and tap on Mobile Networks. Tap on that option and then tap on the Network Mode. You should see LTE network selections and you can just pick the best one for your carrier.
How to activate 4G on Google Pixel family
If you own a Google Pixel phone, here’s how to activate LTE 4G support. First, swipe up on the home screen and tap on the Settings icon, and then tap on the Network & Internet selection. You should then tap on the Mobile Network menu, and then tap on the Advanced option. Finally, tap on the LTE selection for 4G access.
How to activate 4G on Other phones
If you didn’t see your specific phone manufacturer was not mentioned here, don’t fret. The chances are that the methods used to activate LTE 4G on those phones should be pretty similar to the ones we have mentioned in this article.
