A 27-year-old Alabama woman, identified as Marshae Jones, was, on Wednesday, indicted by a grand jury in the shooting death of her unborn child, even though, police say, another woman pulled the trigger.

The suspect was five months pregnant on December 4, 2018, when an argument broke out between her and another woman outside a Dollar General, AL.com reported. .

The fight, which police said was over the unborn baby’s father, saw 23-year-old Ebony Jemison shooting Jones in the stomach. The mother survived the shooting, but it resulted in a miscarriage.

Jemison was charged with manslaughter, but a grand jury failed to indict her, and the charge was dismissed. At the time, police alleged that Jones started the argument, and that Jemison shot Jones in self-defense. .

“The investigation showed that the only true victim in this was the unborn baby,” Pleasant Grove police, Lt. Danny Reid, said in December, in the days following the shooting. .

“It was the mother of the child who initiated and continued the fight which resulted in the death of her own unborn baby,” he added. She will be taken to a jail in Jefferson County on $50,000 bond.

“Let’s not lose sight that the unborn baby is the victim here,” Reid said. “She had no choice in being brought unnecessarily into a fight where she was relying on her mother for protection.”

At the time, she must have feared for her life, as the unarmed pregnant women was pouncing on her. The jury found her not guilty thus agreeing in her self defense theory, for a reason, and I guess, she needed to use necessary force to stop being attacked by pregnant woman (who initiated AND continued the attack), at which point she was shot.

Remember, whether pregnant or not, you shouldn't attack people, to begin with... That's why we have rules of law.

bros,we have other ways of self defence rather than carrying a gun.karate is their to learn,judo and others for hand to hand defence.so are u saying that if u can not fight your fellow man because you feel his too strong,then the best thing is to shoot him?

Bro, in the US where everyone owns a gun, and with policies such as "stand your ground", any deluded fool who steps up to you in a menacing manner will be a dead fool.... So you can go to all the self defense classes you desire, the best protection you have in the US is a fukcing gun.

Yes, the US has a serious gun problem, and it's not about to end anytime soon.... And for that same matter, you can't be going around attacking innocent people at will. Most Americans know it, tourists better get wise about it. You mess with the wrong person in the US, you could well end up being shot.
