Ebooks Vs Printed Books - Which Is Better? by successcard: 10:11am On Jul 15, 2019
People all over the literary world express different opinions when asked the question “Ebooks or Printed books – which one is better?” Based on popular polls and a little bit of research, we at Country Tales have come up with the answer to this trending question. Our analysis was based on four factors: “Accessibility, Cost factor, Ease of use and Level of retention.”

Let’s expatiate!

Acessibility

The modern man is often characterised by his taste for convenience. People no longer fancy moving about with tons of loads on them. Without any doubts, Ebooks clearly fits into this lifestyle; it gives readers access to millions of books on one device. Additionally, readers can make use of great functionalities that enables them to change the book format, increase font sizes and even select different font styles.

Printed books on the other hand offers non of these. They take up too much space in our bags, and sometimes bedrooms.

Cost factor

Ebooks are way cheaper to produce, compared to its compatriot. They are produced once on a computer and uploaded onto the internet for readers to purchase at relatively cheaper prices. Best of all, there are thousands of free books that are available online for readers to download at the click of a button. It gets better: “Ebooks cannot be torn into pieces”. If by chance you loose the device on which you read your electronic books, you only need to get a new one and then you can redownload your Ebooks from your online archives. Ebooks can be shared with friends without loosing your personal copy, where as the same cannot be said about printed books.

Printed books are generally expensive because the cost of printers and paper have soared high in recent times. Unlike Ebooks, printed books can be damaged by several factors, including water, mice, and even by reading it constantly. Replacing worn out books may cost you exactly the same amount you spent in acquiring the first copy.

Ease of use

Based on a recent poll that was conducted, most users testified that printed books are generally easier to use than the EBook counterpart. Printed books gives a natural feel and can be read from all angles. To crown it all, they do not require power to function. In the case of a power outage, you still have control over the contents you want to read. Printed books are also friendly to the eyes, where as Ebooks causes our eyes to strain, owing to the light that it emits.

Level of retention

It is easier to remember what you have read in printed materials than electronic formats, according to a large number of students and teachers. They admitted however that Ebook offers them the chance to complete a book at a more faster pace. But the overall goal of reading a book is not just in the speeed but centered around knowledge acquisition and knowledge application. Printed books help you achieve this at a much greater percentage.

The winner by far is... Both Printed books and Ebooks.

Both formats make a good pick; none is better than the other. It all boils down our individual preferences. If you’re much concerned about the cost factor and accessibility, then Ebooks might be your favourite. But if you want to retain more of what you have read, and also considering the ease of use, then printed books will suit you most. Either ways, both formats sum up equally.
