A British – Nigerian lawmaker, Olukemi Badenoch, was appointed as the junior minister for children and families by the new Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.

Be that as it may, here are 10 facts about the new minister:

1. Badenoch is a British Conservative government official and Member of Parliament (MP) for Saffron Walden.

2. The 39-year old Adegoke was born in Wimbledon, London to parents of Nigerian origin.

3. She spent her youthful age in Lagos, Nigeria and the United States. She moved to the United Kingdom at sixteen years old.

4. She once enlightened MPs in Parliament concerning her own encounters of destitution and how she used to get her work done by candlelight.

5. A software and IT engineer, Badenoch studied systems engineering at Sussex University and furthermore has a law degree. She has worked in the financial division for Coutts and RBS and is a mother of two.

6. Olukemi lost an election for a seat in the London Assembly yet was later chosen after two members gave up their seats in 2012.

7. A handyman, Olukemi worked as a systems analyst before seeking after a profession in consultancy and budgetary administrations, functioning as a partner executive of private bank and wealth manager Coutts and later a director at the conservative magazine, The Spectator.
