AACB estimates that there are more than 13,500 schools offering business degree programs all over the world. It is, therefore, an increasing problem deciding which schools to apply to for an MBA. There are a number of factors to consider when choosing a school for your MBA, these factors include the following:
PROGRAM: the first factor to consider is the programs offered by the school and how they factor into your career goals. You should also check their application requirements against your abilities to ensure that the school is a perfect match for you professionally.
BUDGET: it makes absolutely no sense to get admitted into a school you cannot afford. It is therefore advisable to make sure that the tuition is something within your financial means, you should also consider your living expense.
TEACHING METHOD: another factor to consider is how well you would adapt to the teaching style of the school you're applying to. You can make teaching style inquiry from the admission office of the school you're considering applying to. Your inquiry should consist of questions on class schedule, class size, and teaching style. You can also meet alumni, experts, and school representatives to discuss concerns about the school. Some schools provide on-campus tours that help provide basic school background knowledge.
SCHOLARSHIPS: it is important to prepare and write GMAT/GRE, TOEFL/IELTS as these exams are used for your overall profile assessment which could qualify you for a scholarship. In addition to these exams, you must also possess a good number of years of work experience, great GPA and show leadership skills.
ACCREDITATION: there are three main accreditation bodies that you must make sure your school has a certification from. These bodies include the Association of MBA's in the UK which accredited about 139 business schools in about 66 countries; Association of Advanced Collegiate School of Business(AACB) which is concerned with schools in the US and Canada; European Quality Movement System(EQUIS).
LOCATION: lastly, you should consider where the school is located, the country's, state or province's standard of living, cost of living, culture, International community, language and weather conditions.
