Real Sociedad are pushing hard to sign
Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal before Monday’s European transfer deadline.

Monreal has been with the Gunners since 2013 and he has been a regular under both Arsene Wenger and current head coach Unai Emery.

Indeed the Spaniard has started all three of Arsenal’s Premier League games this season, however he could leave the club this week.

Real Sociedad are in talks over a deal for the 33-year-old that would see him return to Spain and they are hopeful of getting it over the line before Monday’s European transfer deadline.

Arsenal are considering sanctioning the sale of Monreal due to the fact he has one year to run on his contract and they risk losing him for free next summer.

The club have also strengthened in the left-back area, with Kieran Tierney arriving earlier this month from Celtic in a deal worth around £25million.

It means that, along with Sead Kolasinac, Arsenal currently have three left-backs and as such Monreal could be granted the chance to join Sociedad - who are thought to be willing to offer him a two-year contract with an option for a third.

Emery hinted on Saturday after Arsenal’s loss to Liverpool that Monreal could depart, saying: “Some players can leave but we cannot sign another and it depends a little over the next days how we can decide about some circumstances with some players.

“With Nacho one possibility is open and we are going to speak about that.”

I was already wondering who was going to leave between him and Kolasinac. Can't have three senior Left Backs at a club!

An unwise decision from Emery. He'd have allowed him to go in January. Tierney is injured till october, we have only kolasinac now what if he goes injured too? The left back will just be left vacant for a minor
