Nigeria has become a recipient of obsolete and misfit technologies, a research carried out by the National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM) reveals.

NACETEM is an agency of Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Science and Technology that provides critical knowledge support in the area of Science, Technology, Innovation (STI) management for sustainable development.

In a report made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, the centre said the development was due to reliance of the country’s manufacturing and service firms on imported technologies.

Sultan Condemns Pastors, Imams Inciting Nigerians To Violence

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has condemned pastors and Imams that incite violence and politicize religion in Nigeria.
Abubakar made the condemnation on Sunday at an inter-faith session he held with Christians and Muslims in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The session was a prelude to the public lecture marking the Akure Ulefunta festival he is billed to deliver on Monday.

Ondo Senator Tofowomo Responding To Treatment After Auto Crash

Sen. Nicholas Tofowomo, representing Ondo South Senatorial District, who was involved in an auto crash on Sept. 5, is in good condition and responding to treatment in hospital, Mr Olumide Akunrinlola, the Senator’s media aide has said.

Akunrinlola, in a statement on Sunday in Okitipupa, said that no life was lost in the unfortunate auto accident which involved four people.
He said: “I can confirm to you that the senator and other occupants in the vehicle are responding to treatments.”

Chibok Girls-Based Movie Wins Big At Venice

Kachi Benson’s film, ‘Daughters of Chibok’ has won best virtual reality story at the 76th Venice International Film Festival.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the film is a story of the April 2014, abduction of 276 female students from Government Secondary School, Chibok in Borno State, Nigeria.

Following government negotiations with the terrorists, 107 of them were eventually released. But 112 remain missing.

Oil Rises As Saudi Signals OPEC Cuts To Continue Oil rose on Monday on expectations that Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest oil exporter, will continue to support output cuts by OPEC and other producers to prop up prices under new Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman.

Prices climbed for the fourth day and were also supported by comments from the United Arab Emirates’ energy minister that OPEC and its allies are committed to balancing the crude market.

Global benchmark Brent LCOc1 was up 61 cents, or 1 per cent, at 62.15 dollars a barrel by 0649 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate CLc1 was up 65 cents, or 1.2 per cent, at 57.17 dollars a barrel.
