To the cupidinous crave of concluding this loathsome mission, four enormous airliners were synchronously commandeered (hijacked) by the attackers with the sole intention of crashing them into real tourist spots in the US, wreaked havoc as much they could. Two of the planes struck their targets in New York City, another was flown into Virginia, Washington; while the fourth crashed into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

In just one day, these intentional demonstrations of mass homicide and unleashed devastation saw the end of almost 3,000 individuals from 57 different nations which triggered major U.S. initiatives to combat terrorism to extremism. According to reports, more than 400 of the dead were first responders, including New York City firefighters, cops, and EMTs. It was one of the most-covered media events of all time, and after a decade, the pictures are as yet hard to believe. 1. On September 11, 2001, a group of al-Qaeda fear inflicting oppressors commandeered (hijacked) four passenger-carrying aircraft.

2. At exactly 8:42 AM, a Boeing 767 en route to Los Angeles with 56 passengers crashes into the north tower of the World Trade Center in Manhattan, rattling the 110-story milestone.

3. 9:03 AM: A Boeing 757 flying from Washington, D.C., to Los Angeles with 58 passengers smashed into the World Trade Center's south tower, sending flares out the opposite side.

4. 9:40 AM: Federal authorities close all domestic airports.

5. 9:45 AM: An aircraft plane of undetermined size crashes into the Pentagon, igniting an immeasurable amount of fire that collapses part of the massive office building.

6. 10:00 AM: The 110-story World Trade Center's south tower crumbles to the street. The north tower breakdown minutes later.

7. 10:05 AM: White House evacuated.

8. 10:48 AM: The fourth aircraft, conveying 38 passengers from Newark, N.J. to San Francisco smashed southeast of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.


Number Of Casualties

1. Precisely 2,996 people from 57 distinct countries lost their lives in this terrible occurrence.

2. Of the 2,996 who kicked the bucket on 9/11, including the 19 hijackers, 2,753 were killed at the World Trade Center.

3. The two towers crumbled following the impact, with flotsam and jetsam (debris) causing more deaths and damage on the streets below.

4. Numerous individuals including the emergency response (New York City firefighters, cops, and EMTs) teams lost their lives trying to save others.

5. It was the most exceedingly awful death toll due to a terrorist incident on US soil.

6. A year ago another casualty of the attack on the World Trade Center in New York City was identified.

7. The male unfortunate casualty is the 1,641st individual to be identified out of those who died in the Twin Towers' attack.

8. Those killed included 67 British people and around 300 New York firefighters.

9. Among those who died was “The Falling Man”, a figure photographed tumbling from the North Tower of the World Trade Center at 9.41am.

10. A significant number of those caught in the towers tossed themselves out of windows as they realised they wouldn't almost certainly make it out in time.

11. The individual in the photograph has never been identified, yet it's idea he worked at the Windows of the World restaurant in the North Tower.

12. In 2011, 10 years after the attacks, American officials said more than 18,000 people were all the while experiencing diseases connected to the residue.


Memorialization Event

The National September 11 Memorial and Museum is at the original World Trade Center site. The memorial highlights two huge, deep pools at the base of the old World Trade Center towers. Around the edges of the pools, each almost an acre in size, the names of those who were killed in the attacks are embossed in bronze panels.

Truly horrific.

Did some digging a few years back and could see some Nigerians families affected by the World trade centre 9/11 from the names. This was truly an event that affected the whole world.

List is not conclusive and there may be others of Nigerian heritage affected - but it would be great we remeber about how connected the world is - and have their families in our thoughts and prayers.
