The shortlist of candidates to replace Zinedine Zidane as Real Madrid boss isn't very long.

Florentino Perez usually looks to coaches out of a job or those in Real Madrid Castilla when he's making a change in the dugout.

Using this criteria, here are the three major contenders should Zidane be given his marching orders at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Jose Mourinho
The Portuguese coach is still out of a job after being sacked by Manchester United in December and his return to Real Madrid would be a major shock to the system. He knows the club and his authority could prove to be incredible useful as Los Blancos look for a revolution.

Massimiliano Allegri
The former Juventus boss was a candidate for the Real Madrid job in 2018 after Zidane had stepped away. Allegri, Antonio Conte and Mauricio Pochettino were eventually beaten to the post by Julen Lopetegui. The Italian was interested in the job but wanted to honour his Juventus contract instead.

Raul
The former Real Madrid captain would be following in the same footsteps as Zidane, who was promoted from Castilla to first team when Rafael Benitez was dismissed. Santiago Solari was also called up to replace Lopetegui last season and now Raul could be the next in line.
