ICFJ operates in the journalism and technology nexus, building global reporters ‘ knowledge and storytelling abilities. Journalists are improving news coverage through our job and linking with their audiences more deeply. Our respondents have overthrown corrupt governments, encouraged better legislation, and made communities safer and healthier through hard-hitting coverage. The program is provided via IJNet Arabic, an ICFJ platform that provides reporters with the recent training possibilities, advice and resources. Together with its network of teachers, IJNet Arabic’s powerful followers in the MENA region have created it a precious resource for reporters looking to reinvent their abilities. The program will combine the reach of IJNet Arabic and loyal viewers with the digital management of Google:

Identify and nurture a key group of nine digital media trainers to give Google Tools and others training.

Equip 4,000 journalists with the latest digital tools and resources across the Arab world.

There’s an acute need for digital training. An ICFJ research, The State of Technology in Global Newsrooms, discovered that only 29% of MENA newsrooms frequently use various platforms to distribute stories–trailing stories in the remainder of the globe; 56% struggle to build public confidence and 77% are worried about their capacity to produce quality content.
