I’ve seen so many mothers in Nigeria happy to see their kids fat/obese. To them this is a sign of fine bobo(healthy living). Why is that so?

Seriously, this is the Nigerian way of life. If you are slim, then you are either going hungry or battling with a disease. If you are fat or obese, then you are definitely “chopping life” and living to the full. To a typical Nigerian, losing weight is only for models. They do not think of the health benefit of staying on the right weight, eating less or even fasting. And about fasting, they only fast when their pastor or Imam tells them to fast and pray about probably an absurd issue that may not really exist. That’s for another day.
