There is a form of internal xenophobia going on against Ndigbo in Benue state especially in Gboko.

Igbo business men especially the rich ones are being kidnapped weekly. Every week one Igbo man will be taken away and huge ransom paid.

According to the Igbo community in Gboko led by a businessman, Chief Nnolim Okafor, “there is no week an Igbo person is not kidnapped or murdered in Benue State.”
They alleged that they have become endangered in the State following spates of targeted kidnappings and murder of Igbos by native gangs, suspected herdsmen and bandits.
It is unacceptable how Ndigbo are being kidnapped and in some cases killed in Benue state and the govt is not doing anything to protect them.

According to a news on Ogun TV, Igbo kidnapped victims have paid about 227 million naira as ransom to these criminals.

In a press briefing at Enugu, the Igbo community in Gboko cried out to Ohaneze to come to their aid expressing their dismay with the way reports concerning the security of Ndigbo in Benue State have been handled with levity and non-challenge by the security agencies in the State; warning that Igbos in Benue State may be forced into an aggressive defence of their lives and property.

Gov Ortom has been quiet while Igbos are being maimed in his state. This is unacceptable.
We call on southeast governors to reach out quickly to their Benue state counterpart or evacuate Igbos in Benue state if the state govt can not protect them.
