I was so proud and pleased for her. She is Nigerian as far as I’m concerned and her victory has made up a little for the sulking Nigerian athletes messing around in Douha until they get their pay checks and applause from misguided Nigerians who believe that by encouraging them to blame everyone else but themselves they are somehow teaching Nigeria Authorities lessons.

Maybe, If nigeria had invested in our athletes like Bahrain did to Anwar eid nasar, the story may be different....
If anwar had remain patriotic to nigeria, I'm sure her case wouldn't be different from our other mediocre athletes n wouldn't be have made history last night.....

It's very easy to throw dirt at our athletes but ask yourself...
How come they excel beyond expectation once they make that decision to be unpatriotic....

A mediocre n disorganised system can never get the best out raw talents....
It takes finesse, intelligence n systematic planning to refine a crude gold....
salwa Eid nasa just showed that nigerian athletic federation is a joke....

In the first round of the 400, I saw Okun George deliberately slow down at one point. Now this may be her way of judging the race, her tactics if you will, but it seemed to me odd at time. In this system, one could imagine the seasoned athletes deciding among themselves to always just take the money and not bother overly on performing for Nigeria. Younger athletes will become influenced , leading to a culture of manipulating the system for personal interest. The atitdude may involve slowly without them even realising over time through mumblings on how officials are nepotistic, incompetent, corrupted etc, worst, Nigerians enable this too through adoptation of one sided ways of criticising informed by politics. Thing is, we have arrived at a point in our critic of leadership in Nigeria that citizens can escape responsibility by playing the "leaders are incompetent, they are responsible for my failures card" . And so athletes can do no wrong in this system. At the end of meet, they get their pay (they may even be paid before). Here's something you and others may not have considered, the Officials and Nigeria Athletics organisation too benefit from this Monster We have created. They benefit from our top Nigerian athletes behaving mediocre. By continually taking these athletes to world events, they save on not having to invest in younger talent and developing grassroots. This means the Nigerian public are being played and cheated by both sides.
