Ghanian Film Makers Surrender To Nigeria by Nobody: 8:14am On Nov 05, 2010
There are strong indications that Ghanaian film makers have decided to sheathe their swords and embrace peace with their Nigerian counterparts.

Recalled that the face-off between Ghanaian movie practitioners and their Nigerian counterparts started few months ago when the former demanded $1,000 from the latter, compelling the latter to rise to the occasion by paying introducing a higher fee for their Ghanaian counterparts.

Inside sources revealed that after series of consultations with Ghanaian film makers, the two countries have agreed to make amends by signing an MoU. The ceremony is billed to take place in Accra soon.

Confirming the development, Actor Guild of Nigeria president, Mr Segun Arinze was recently quoted as saying that plans are far advanced for both parties to have a final decisive meeting either in Lagos or in Accra.

“We are brothers and we will forever remain brothers. It is a free enterprise; we just need to sort a few things out.”Arinze said.

This peace talk followed after a Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo was allegedly arrested in Nigeria a few days ago for refusing to pay a certain amount foreign actors and producers are supposed to pay before they are permitted to act in Nigeria.

Next step should be to put a N1000 tax on the sale of Gollywood movies in Nigeria.
By the time we do that, we'll see if the industry won't die.

Oh how I love this thread: Even thou I am not a fan of Nollywood / the wannabe Ghashit, I hate this Ghanian wannabes like shit. That's what you get when you tryna point a finger back @ your maker and boss which sure what Nigeria are to Ghana must go Ghanians. Just like someone here said, please Nollywood don't let em grow up KILL THE INDUSTRY. People like wannabe Van Vicka need to be a okada rider dude got no acting talent. I still kinda prefer Majid, and Jack, The two re close family friend and they are cool and talented.

Oh how I hate Ghanians, they can lick your ass just to get what they want from you and trust me as soon as they have got it, they are like Fucck it. IE those mumu forcing guys in NY/Brooklyn, Boston.

with its large population, most reasonable observers would expect Nigeria to have its fair share of idiots, but you two certainly plunge the depth. You exemplify the charater traits most commonly (rightly or wrongly) associated with the average Nigerian - aggressive, uncultured, loud mouth dumbos.

I'm glad the leaders of the Nigerian film industry are sitting down with their Ghanaian counterparts to discuss an amicable grown-up solution, rather than the overly aggressive option that you canvass.

We Nigerians need to realise that we are not as important as we think we are, and using the 'nuclear' option against fellow Africans for the slightest skirmish will only reinforce certain stereotypes.

Yes, we may have gazillion population as some of you often brag, h/ever we should know that Ghana is a country we can & should learn from.

- Its people enjoy a higher standard of living & are on average better educated than we are;
- The country & its democracy is better managed;
- It enjoys widespread respect in international circles - unlike Nigeria; and
- The people are probably more civilised & cultured than we are.

I hope this is a good move from Nollywood because i don't think Ghanians will accpet such if their movie industry were bigger than ours.

Yes.Surrender is the very apt word to use.Tell me what was the rational behind that stupid brain wave decision they took that elicited the response from nollywood.Do you know any Nigerian that has tried to register a business outfit in Ghana,I'm sure by the time they tell you some anti Nigerian laws and fees newly introduced,which by the way,Nigeria's federal commerce and industries ministry as well as the CAC does not subject their people to such harrowing experiences.Infact Ileke,if you try form pity levels for those ingrates again, I go bulala you

Ghana is about 20 million population and out of that only
about 15,000 can afford to buy any movies.

i wonder how they thought they could flex any muscle with such a
small market.
They just realised their films are not popular in Africa.
Low budget shagfests can only go so far.
Re: Ghanian Film Makers Surrender To Nigeria by Ivynwa(f): 8:31pm On Nov 05, 2010
How did the bible say it again?
"See how good it is for brothers to relate in harmony and unity----"
We should quit hating ourselves in Africa, we are one people. A ghanaian guy once did me one good turn and tried helping me get into a company he worked in, he did not succeed but it was sweet of him. Later on people ganged up on him in that company and he lost the job, went into business and thieves broke into his shop and stole his stuffs.
I recently returned his favour and put in words for him when my manager mentioned needing more hands, the man has been interviewed and by the grace of God will soon start working in the same place as myself. Let love reign! If we were both discriminating and not wanting any good for ourselves because this person is Nigerian and that person is Ghanaian, we will not help ourselves.
