A 400 level student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), has reportedly collapsed after drinking a contaminated bottle of coke he bought at the school ‘s food court popularly known as ‘Buka‘.

Dockaysworld gathered that the affected student had drank little off the new bottle of coke he purchased before been drawn to take a proper look because of the unusual taste of the drink.

It was learnt that upon inspection, there was precence of some unknown lumps in the coke drink which also happened to be expired.


Further investigation also revealed that most of the drinks at the eatery which is located at the school’s food court, were expired.

The School management however temporarily closed down the "Buka" which sold the drink to the student, while also taking custody the remaining of the expired drinks.

The young man was rushed to the school health centre after been found in a critical condition in his hostel.

This is not the first time I'm seeing this or reading something of this nature. I am surprised some of you think it's staged to exploit Coca Cola.

My In-law once bought Coke with dirt inside. We told him it was a waste of time to go to their head office for complain, but he refused. They kept denying him access to their MD at the branch 'till he gave up.

That's a blessing in disguise according to African mentality..... Just imagine how much he will benefit from the company after suing them for threat to life.

Forget it. I used to think like you before now. There's no blessing there. These Bluechip companies are not the kind an individual would sue. Does he poses the kind of resources they do? Even when you manage to get a probono lawyer, they'll frustrate him/her.

blame his negligence and inability to check a product's expiry date before consumption. Well, he can blame just himself and the seller and not Coca Cola

I suspect the restaurant owner purchased fake coke. There are many fake coca cola products in the market.
