Question:
I'm a non-Muslim and wonder: Why are Muslims not allowed to make picture of the Prophet Mohammad?

Fatwa:
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam (may Allah exalt his mention) is His slave and Messenger.

It is known that a photograph of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam (may Allah exalt his mention) does not exist so that his picture may be published based on it, or for someone to claim that a certain image is his picture. This is nothing but a lie and a blasphemy; even if the purpose of publishing the picture is to glorify and honour him. So how could the person who published his picture claim that it was the Prophet's sallallaahu`alayhi wa sallam (may Allah exalt his mention) while he has not seen him.

If the purpose of publishing the picture is to mock and ridicule him sallallaahu`alayhi wa sallam (may Allah exalt his mention ) then this is disbelief, as he was Allah's Messenger and the best and the last Prophet, so how can one mock him and ridicule him? Such an act [mocking and ridiculing] cannot be accepted even if it is regarding a noble or great personality in this world, so how can this be accepted for one of Allah's Prophets, may Allah exalt their mention, in whom hundreds of millions of people around the world believe as Allah's Messenger?

On this occasion, we invite you to embrace Islam, as it is the true and last religion. By being a Muslim, a person achieves success in this world by believing and performing acts of good deeds, and success in the Hereafter by enjoying the eternal pleasure in Paradise whose width is as large as the heavens and the Earth; and saves himself from the misery of this world and the darkness of disbelief and disobedience, and from the misery of the Hereafter by being eternally punished and tortured in Hellfire.

Allah Knows best.

It’s to prevent what’s happening in Christianity from happening to Islam.

People now pray to someone that “acted” as Jesus and it gone out of hand ever since then.

Just worship...Forget Picture. Who e help?

This has said it all. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon His Prophet, whose messenger-ship has brought guidance, justice, fairness and light to the world.

No mosque, household or individual has the picture of the prophet (SAW). I want to believe what you made is an insinuation.

This should not bother anybody at the moment, rather, have it in your memory that religion is gradually going out of the world for science to take over.

Currently, Allah, Jehovah and various gods of religions are kept in a spiritual cage for humanity to outgrow their religion and be science-oriented. May the time of a scientific world and worldview come fast, aseee!!!

No, soiling his image is not worth death, much more a mere depiction. The Prophet (SAW) was stoned and cussed out of Taif and when he had the opportunity to retaliate, he had forgiven the town. The same applies to Makkah. I'll also refer to the wife of Abi Lahab who was going around with slanders of the holy Prophet. He never reacted. In fact, there is no record in the Quran or Hadith that Muhammad (PBUH) took revenge against those or someone who hurt him. So, now, what gives humans the right to kill someone who blasphemes him?

The extremists cite shirk but they are in plain error. The Quran does not prescribe killing as a punishment for shirk. There is no verse in the Quran or Hadith that asks us to kill anyone who abuses or defames the Prophet.

No.
Depicting what no one saw is more like mockery and mocking him carries a grevious penalty in Islamic law.
But it has to be in an Islamic state (not ISIS or any of those terrorists controlled territory) and carries out on the others of a the leader after due consultation with Islamic jurist.
