LAGOS-Emotions ran high Monday at the Lagos State Police Public Relations Office, Ikeja, after a 14-year-old girl told a crowd how she was impregnated by her 50-year-old father, resulting in her delivering a baby.

The teenager (names withheld), naively clung to her baby girl, while calling on the government to come to her aid concerning the well being of her five-day-old baby.

Already, the teenager and her father, Mr. Yerisu Onojobi, have been evicted from their Bogija village in Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos. The community considered the act sacrilegious.

In the beginning

The girl, a Junior Secondary School I student, said her father, a farmer, started having carnal knowledge of her since December last year, after she returned from her aunt's place following the death of her mother.

The abominable act continued until the bubble burst when Kehinde was discovered to be pregnant.

When news of his misdemeanour spread across the community, Mr. Yerisu, according to the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Samuel Jinadu, was sent packing from the village.

The Police spokesman said: "But he ran to Elemoro Police Division with a fictitious claim about his eviction, requesting for police protection. However, during investigation, the villagers said he had committed an abominable act against their tradition."

Describing the act as deispicable, Jinadu said the suspect would be charged to court for defilement.

‘She tempts me’

Yerisu, however, shocked everyone when he said his daughter was after all not a virgin when he had carnal knowledge of her.

Although he later broke down in tears while regretting his action, he also blamed his daughter for always exposing herself to him whenever they were alone.

In the past 3 to 4 months about 4 cases of fathers sleeping with their underage daughter's have been reported in the newspapers These are the unfortunate ones that their deed blew up.How about those that has not come to the open?Is it becoming norm for fathers to sleep with their underage daughter?.What is happening to this generation.And of all the cases mentioned only a tribe in NIGERIA are involved why?

According to the so-called father, his daughter tempted him, I'm missing something here. Could it be that she seduced him Or is there a particular tribe in Nigeria that young girls specialize in seducing their fathers??

This is madness. Someone has to do some major explaining to that innocent child while it grows up.

The man must be crazy in saying the daughter seduced her. What abt ur daughter u didnt c b4 that u r seduced by 2day. Am a father myself. Cant imaging me lusting afta my daughter when am not cursed or under an infuence. Poverty, illiteracy, ungodliness nd birived conscience has caused tix.

It is high time we all stand up to wage war against child sexual abuse.we should know sexual abuse doesn't come from parent alone,it could be frm an uncle,aunty,siblings,other family members,clergy,teacher,househelp,gateman,guardian,family friend or even a stranger.a man or woman who is having sex with a child below d age of 18 is also a victim of this act.rebranding nigeria starts frm every one of us,this children our d leaders of tomorrow.together we can fight this scourge.PGF
