I know I can ask, but I got this job as a sort of favour from someone who knows the employer and feel it might be too forward of me to ask.

The pay depends if it's state employment, federal or private establishment..
I am guessing it's private, so graduate entry level position would be determined by your employer.

Could be 56 to 68k

The salary amount is supposed to be stated in the offer letter, as Graduate salary differs.

Confirm very well before you put your head o, some employers starts with N40k for Graduate and thinks its normal in their such mind.

I want to believe the letter you meant here is a mail and not an actual offer letter.
An offer letter for any standard organisation should bear the salary range numerically and conditions of work also.
Failure to identify the salary scale before signing the offer letter is very risky especially in cases where you have to commit yourself for longer periods in the organisation before you can leave.
Do well to ask your contact the salary for graduate trainee in the place if anything before you start

From a legal perspective, Like someone mentioned - an offer letter for employment should contain basics about your Salary.

It will also state whether you are entitled to paid leave.

How many weeks notice for resignation or removal - and what salary would paid in case you resign... etc.

My sister recently resigned from her job and it turned out she was supposed to give a Month notice. Because she gave 2 weeks notice, she will be paid the amount of money she was earning in the last financial year - which is quite low. Worst still, they are deducting all the days she was absent from the same salary. She got no choice, Cos she signed all these when she was being engaged.

So basically - try to confirm, even though it came as a favour. No harm in asking what your pay will be.

How do you accept an offer when no offer has been made?

Please write to them to confirm the terms of your offer before accepting it.

The next time you go for an interview, do this breakdown in their presence, and you'd be marveled by the HRs comment.
