A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday December 25, as a man identified as Onyeocha Umuokwu was allegedly shot dead by a policeman.

The incident reportedly occurred at the home of one Engineer Eze in Alor Idemili South Local Government area of Anambra state.

Eyewitnesses alleged that the deceased was killed by a stray bullet shot by a policeman aiming at a fleeing cow in the community.

The eyewitness report reads; “Onyeocha Umuokwu was shot by a police officer at Engineer Eze house yesterday been 25th December 2019, in Alor idemili south LGA Anambra stat

The news have it that a cow cut the rope they use to tied it and started running then the police officer on the duty now try to shoot the cow but mistakenly shot and killed this Alor popular/jovial man Onyeocha Umuokwu na Alor.”

When you take a close look to the trend of evil pattern associated with Nigerian Police Officers, you would agree with me that the curses that disgruntled civilians lay on them are actually very effective.

They keep getting involved in despicable acts that would make you wonder if they ever got any training in law enforcement let alone handling firearms.

I can see some people saying it is not the police officer fault. What took him to the mans house in the first place? Is that his official duty post? How would he account for that bullet when asked by his command, let’s assume no one died .?

That officer should be locked up for murder. Let everyone be accountable, that is the only way this nation will grow, let us stop making small small excuses for incompetency, those little little things are what is causing problems.

Very correct...

And here is where I am going to side with the policeman this time (First, apologies to the man's family for their loss).

In foreign countries, a loose animal means that animal control is called out, and they use non-lethal methods...like stun guns and darts...to subdue the animal....along with nets.

Nigeria does not have the equivalent of animal control. And that leaves the police...who for the most part do not have non-lethal equipment. Which begs the questions...what are the local and state governments doing to set up animal control units that could handle such problems? (Or is it to wait for Aso rock to do everything??)

The police man was called out to subdue a loose animal. And the only equipment given was his gun. No stun gun, no posion/sedative darts, nothing. Just a gun that used in a crowded area could lead to someone dying.

I don't blame the policeman, or even the Nigeria Police. they did the best with what they have. Blame Nigerians for refusing to vote for thinking leaders past and present. Instead, it is for people who can share money that we vote for.
