On Tuesday, 24 December 2019, there was a targeted gasoline bomb attack on the producers of a Netflix comedy starring gay Jesus.

Police in Brazil are investigating a video found on social media showing a blaze at an empty video production house in Rio de Janeiro on Christmas Eve.

The Netflix comedy movie, “First Temptation of Christ” depicts Jesus as a gay man was produced by YouTube comedy channel Porta dos Fundos and it has gathered a huge backlash after it was aired in Brazil, sparking about two million people to sign a petition for the movie to be taken down as its jokes are being “seriously offensive” to Christians.

According to reports by The Sun, there were no injuries recorded, and a security guard extinguished the flames on December 24, says the Associated Press.

A man claims responsibility in the name of a 1930s-era ultranationalist group, the Command of Popular National Insurgence.

The man, whose voice was digitally altered in the video, said the overnight attack targeted Brazilian comedy group Porta dos Fundos for its Portuguese-language programme.

Video circulating on TV and social media shows three people throwing gasoline bombs over the wall in front of the video production house.

Police confirmed the clip matches security camera footage and is authentic.
