Liverpool’s Victor Osimhen transfer plan under threat from Barcelona and Real Madrid

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp’s plan to sign Lille striker Victor Osimhen during the January transfer window is under threat, after La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona registered their interest in the 21-year-old.

Liverpool are trying to sign Victor Osimhen from Ligue 1 side Lille in the January transfer window. But Jurgen Klopp’s plan to complete the deal appears to be under threat, after Real Madrid and Barcelona became interested in the Nigeria international.

The Reds boss is very keen on the Lille forward, who has already scored 13 goals in all competitions this season.

The Ligue 1 side admit that it’s only a matter of time before they’re forced to cash in on the striker.

But, they’re adamant that they won’t be considering any bids for Osimhen in January.

Their hand may be forced into action, however, after the two La Liga giants registered their interest, according to Marca.

If Lille were to be handed a huge offer for the Nigeria star, it’s unclear whether they’d consider a deal.

Osimhen cost just £11million in August, when Lille signed him from Belgian side Charleroi.

His value has since skyrocketed after impressing in Ligue 1.

The striker signed a five-year deal at the club in August, and Lille will certainly be demanding a high price for any deal.

Osimhen has made 18 league appearances for Lille this season, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists.

He was also extensively used in this season’s Champions League group stages.

The striker scored Lille’s only goal in their 2-1 defeat at home to Chelsea in October.

Real Madrid could be looking for a new attacking player in January, if they successfully sell Gareth Bale.

The Wales international has made it clear that he wants to leave the Spanish capital, and Zinedine Zidane is open to offers.

Meanwhile, Barcelona only have Luis Suarez as in out-and-out centre-forward in their squad.

Antoine Griezmann and Lionel Messi can operate as a No 9, but they’re predominantly used on the wings.
