This decision by the Free-Hands was one of the biggest mistakes they made. Their one-sided reasoning that the EFCC would join the trail of the suicide bomber hunters across the country later proved them wrong. Because while the news of the bombing had shocked every law enforcement agency in the country and stole their attentions; it did not changed the focus of the EFCC and its Operation Water team, rather it gave them an opportunity to strike while most attention was centered on the suicide attack. The order to continue with their hunt came to Mai-Coins, Diza and Etim as they followed the news from the TV screen inside Mai-Coin’s room at Obudu resort where they had set up a temporary office. The cabled message had been brief and coded.

‘’ You can resume dredging the well, until the source of water is located. Reports indicate you are almost at the bottom.’’

Averagely, a novice would see this as a directive to keep digging for water from a well, but a prudent brain might see it as a coded message, which exactly was what it was. The directive from the boss of the EFCC to his team was to carry on with their pursue of the Free -Hands and to ensure that Smoke was located, and that the reports he had so far received on the operation indicated that they were almost there.
It was based on this directive that Mai-Coins urgently called a meeting in his room to review what has been happening to their chase since the suicide attack. And at the end of the short meeting, the group decided to head on immediately to Tinapa, as their investigation within the few hours showed that the two members of the Free-Hands had sneaked out of the Obudu resort few hours after their meeting and boarded a charted car to the famous leisure centre. Consequently, they packed their bags, settled their bills and drove out of Obudu ranch in a tinted metallic Range Rover with Etim at the wheel and Mai-Coins by his side on the passenger seat while Diza sat relaxed with her eyes shut in the backseat.

The trio of Ken Solomom, Colour and Chambers thinking that they could remain in Kaduna for two more days before making another move were jolted with more shocking news the next day as they all had a quite siesta inside their respective rooms, away from the scorching sun outside. Chambers who had been uncomfortable since the news of the Abuja bomb blast had since made it a habit to keep the TV in his room on at all time and his ears more to the ground. Therefore, he was the first to hear that another bomb blast had just occurred in Kaduna, somewhere close to Unguwar Sarki in the metropolis, killing a police officer.
According to report from the scanty news from Al-Jazeera, a bomb disposal officer of the Nigerian Police Force who had attempted to investigate a device concealed inside a black polythene bag in the glare of spectators was blown up and died instantly. The decapitated body of the patriotic police officer went viral on social media few minutes later.
It was a frightened Chambers who jumped out of his cozy bed and ran to look for Colour and Ken Solomon once again. He banged into Colour’s room; practically dragged him out of bed with constant exclamation of bomb! bomb! He then frantically briefly explained what he had heard on TV and the horrific picture of the decapitated body of the police officer.
Colour quickly put on the TV in his room and the news was all over the channels. He then went online to confirm the photo story. He briefly read the news on one of the sites, stared horrible at the body half-blown body of the dead policeman, grimaced and then dashed out of the room followed by a panic stricken Chambers. They banged into a sleeping Ken Solomon and woke him up with their noise.

‘’ What is going on? ‘’ KS asked and sat up with an alarmed look.

‘’ There has been another bomb blast, right here in Kaduna.’’ Colour told him and then quickly explained what was going on. They all stared once more at the horrific picture now popular on the internet.

‘’ It is time to pack and check out of this town I guess.’’ Ken Solomon finally said to the delight of Chambers who jumped up with excitement and dashed for the door.

‘’ Correct talk, Whiteman; Make I go pack my bag.’’ With that, he sprang out of the room before any of them could change his mind and call him back.

Thirty-five minutes later, they all boarded a chartered taxi and headed to the airport after arranging with the hotel manager to pay someone to drive their car to Lagos. The latest bomb incident had jolted KS and he thought it wise and safer to travel by air as the twelve hours journey by road was no longer safe for him. He had reasoned. Therefore, he asked Colour to arrange for a straight flight to Lagos. This arrangement had gladdened no one better than Chambers who was not only happy to hear the news; it was also an opportunity to travel by air for the first time in his life.
