The name Abak was originated from Abakk which is one of the son's of Annang and Annang which comprising of eight local government Area(Abak, Etim Ekpo, Essien Udim, Ikot Ekpene, Ika, Ukanafun and Oruk Anam)

During the migration of Annang people's from the Niger-congo which the warriors ensuring that the protect their father's land which they started from Nto Ndang Village to Abiakpo whose was the first son of Annang which Late Akuku Akpan Ennang was born during the returned of the Annang warriors (Ekwerre Annang) and was named "Akpan Annang"which wasn't pronounced perfectly which he was called Akpan Ennang and when they moved from Ikot Obong, Uruk uso to Afaha-Obong junction the warriors (Ekwerre Annang) were tired which one of them suggested they should keep moving to Abak now Abak 5 (Abak, Oruk Anam, Etim Ekpo, Ika and Ukanafun) that "Abak asuk Ade Annang" meaning Abak is still part of Annang which the walk down and fought the enemies who enslaved the Annang people's

Annang people's are the warriors and a farmer's though the language is intelligible to speaker of ibibio, Efik and other's dialect
