I have been using Aveeno Positively Radiant SPF 15 for about a year now,but there hasn't been much change then last week the flare ups started and I'm now using Dr Miracles's Acne system cleanser, toner & moisturizer.
I saw your article yesterday and I thought to myself I'm never going to stop looking for a remedy until I get my flawless skin back lol

Is Dr. Miracle's working for you? How about the Aveeno Positively Radiant SPF?

Freesia:

Both of them help to remove acne scars. Both Chandrika and Medimix work well for that. The difference between the two is, the Chandrika [the one in the picture I posted earlier] is made up of 7 essential oils while the Medimix is made up of 18 different herbs that help when it comes to skin care. The Chandrika smells great but the Medimix works better. When I used it, I wash my face with either soaps [usually Medimix], then I apply almond oil to my face. If I run out of almond oil, I grab a vitamin E capsule and apply the contents of the vitamin E capsule onto my face. Both the almond oil and the vitamin E help to reduce and eliminate acne scars. I recently came across another ayurvedic soap called Jeeva. I've never heard of it nor have I used it but I'm looking forward to buying and trying it next time I go to the Indian store I shop at. If I can find Jeeva in the Indians shops, I'll try it and give you the low down on the soap and whether or not its good. So far, from what I've learned about it, its is made up of 27 rare herbs!!! shocked. The Medimix already works wonders, so I can't wait to try try Jeeva. In case you haven't noticed, I'm a bit obsessed with natural skin and body care grin. I just love finding new natural ways to take care of my body.

This is what the Jeeva soap looks like

My acne was mild when I started using Aveeno I haven't seen much of a difference on my blemishes they haven't faded.

I have been using the Dr Miracle for about a week, I noticed I get all shiny later on in the day like I have suddenly dipped my face in a bowl full of groundnut oil I don't know what that is all about.I need to have some dry tissue to wipe out the shine and that could end up aggravating the skin again !!

Well what can I say?? Gal you are a gem, you've made a discovery of another soap.Funny thing about my skin is that I have oily skin on my face and extremely dry skin on my body.I remember a few years ago when I was on Atlantic Ave  in Brooklyn and I would just walk into some shop smelling of incense or strong spices and start asking about different body soaps I should have been looking for the Indian shops as well .

I'm going out today to do my Xmas shopping  I will need to go to the Indian shops and see if I will find any of the Medimix or Jeeva soaps.
Thanks a lot for bringing this to the light smiley

If you have oily skin, using the Medimix can help reduce the oil. A lot of those acne system products are created in a manner that makes you dependent on the product that way you'll be forced to buy more products from their line to solve other problems that may be created due to usage of the acne fighting systems. Hehehe, why do you think Proactiv has so many different products? As for the stores on Atlantic, some of them are a bit useless. When I first I went buy the soaps, I went  to all the Islamic stores along Atlantic Avenue and asked the store owners and they either had no idea what I was talking about or didn't carry that brand. Then I went to Little India in Manhattan and I found it in every Indian store I walked into. With all honesty, I'm so grateful that I found these soaps. Good luck on finding these soaps in the stores.

heredity
-food: pizza, chocolate, greasy and fried foods, and junk food;while these foods may not be good for overall health, they don't cause acne or make it worse.Although, some recent studies have implicated milk and diary products in aggravating acne.
-Dirt: sweat does not cause acne.on the other hand, excessive washing can dry and irritate the skin
-Stress: This however does not play much of a direct role in causing acne.
-cosmetics: most cosmetics and skin care products are not pore clogging.of the many available brands, those which are listed as 'water-based' or 'oil-free' are generally the best choice.
-Hormones;

all these things cause acne or make it worse
certain types of food, lots of stress, disease or even hereditary factors can mess up with your hormones which in turn causes your body to produce sebum (oil) and the oil creates a perfect environment for bacteria which then leads to acne (ie. the result of your body trying to fight off the foreign bodies).
teenagers and young adults have oily skin and acne because their hormone levels are at their highest.

soaps and topical products may help the irritation or keep oil, bacteria off your face but the best way to get rid of acne is to find the underlying problem ie what is causing the hormonal problem and try to solve that.

@oyinda so how do u think one can find out what is really causing the Acne. Do you suggest a medical test or wat ?
Re: Fallacy About Acne(pimples) by ajilete(f): 11:14am On Dec 19, 2010
Retin A cream/gel is also said to be effective for acne, but i think you need to see a specialist dermatologist. Using unprescribed antibiotics can be detrimental especially since there are many kinds of antibiotics and they all have different effects. also some can become ineffective, so seeing a doctor who knows what they are doing is adviced, if you look at the reviews for Retin A online-(google it)they are pretty impressive. it exfoliates the sin keeping the pores clear of debris and dirt and oils that cause acne. Its pretty strong and may actaully make the skin appear worse before it gets better as the imbedded bacteria comes to the surface. it stings and you need to incorporate sun screen as it can sensitise the skin.
apart from that drinking lots of water all the time, cleans out the system of toxins and doent cost a thing. Good luck.

Yay I found them!!
Chandrika & Medimix are quite popular over here they were out of stock in 5 shops I got lucky on the sixth and seventh shop I bought both.I used the Medimix for my face & Chandrika on my body.I'm amazed at the fact that they both don't dry but left my skin feeling very soft and supple  and not forgetting CLEAN !!
Medimix smells OK I will use this one long term on both Body and face due to developing a small rash on my arms, thighs & legs as well as  a slight itch after using Chandrika such a pity though sad
I blame my skin for not appreciating the power of Ayurveda. So glad Medimix is working fine it's got more herbs smiley
Will keep you posted.Thank you again

lol, I know how you feel. I remember when I first started using the soap and said to myself "Had I found this soap years ago I wouldn't have wasted so much money". The Medimix lasts longer than the Chandrika. Either way, they're both nice. Can't wait to hear your review--I'm glad that you were able to find them wink

how old are you? If you are a teenager or young adult, it's normal to have acne. it's just puberty and you should wait to outgrow it.
using acne chemicals and creams will only help temporarily (if it does at all) and will frustrate you. besides, many acne creams are not nice to your skin. it can be harsh on the skin and tend to expose your skin to UV rays (which is why you need to stay away from the sun if you are using acne creams).

if you are 24+ and you are still having acne, it's called adult acne and it's caused by stress, hormones etc You need to watch your diet and stress level. If you are eating excessive sugar and fatty foods, reduce it. Also try to eat more vegetables and drink water often. reduce school/work stress
take chelated zinc and vitamin b.

trust me, if it is puberty related, it will clear away on it's own. but do those stuff above anyways (cutting out excess sugar and oily/fried foods, taking vitamin b and zinc, reducing stress) because they are good for your health and u might see results.
Re: Fallacy About Acne(pimples) by Timi1990(m): 9:06am On Dec 21, 2010
@oyinda thanks. Am 20 already, and as at last year when i was still 19, i eat anything eatable both butter, groundnut, candies, cheese, sugar e.tc; and then there was no single pimple. But all of a sudden around february this year, it started appearing and became so worse and terrible that i had to see a dermatologist immediately. I used lot of cleanser and face wash, yet it still there. But since about 3 weeks that have been taking Tetracycline and using a new bathing soap a friend told me about (MEDIMIX SOAP) it has reduce a little bit .
Do u think mine is as a result of puberty or what ? Cuz hav never had pimple in my life until now .
Re: Fallacy About Acne(pimples) by oyinda3(f): 6:06am On Dec 22, 2010
what's your diet like? do you eat too much of anything?do you eat too much of the candies, sugar etc? try cutting sugar out of your diet. try this for a month or two.
do you have a beard that you shave regularly? try shaving less if you do.
or you may still be going through puberty.
Re: Fallacy About Acne(pimples) by Timi1990(m): 6:50am On Dec 22, 2010
@oyinda ok, i'll try to do that , maybe it might help me . But i know many of my friends who ar also the same age as i am, but they have no pimple at all . Can mine still be puberty ?
Re: Fallacy About Acne(pimples) by oyinda3(f): 7:00am On Dec 22, 2010
yea it could be.
maybe your friends had their pimples earlier. or maybe their skin are not sensitive. some people are just more sensitive.

Re: Fallacy About Acne(pimples) by Nobody: 9:01am On Jan 03, 2011
I agree with Oyinda, acnes has its period. best way to treat pimples [acnes]

1. Dont touch your face
2. Wash your hands and clean your nails frequently
3. Exfoliate your face [face over steamy hot water]
4. Wash face with black soap/ dudu osun  atleast twice a day
5. Keep your scalp healthy [dandruff scalp causes pimples because the pores in the scalp are closed with dirt]
6. Use less oily, but moisturizing lotion

All those chemicals in the store. . . . pshhh, they work for the time being. And as Inked mentioned, they're chemically produced to make your skin dependent on them. Now, do you seriously think the people making money from Acne products wants to get rid of acne for real? c'mon!
First of all, you're wasting money. Secondly, you're torturing your skin, drying your skin with all those hard-to-pronounce acids and alcohols in them.

@Idi_ileke thanks a lot , have only been using the soap alone and have seen little result ,bt hopefully by the end of the month, my face should look better. But should i continue using my Moisturizing cream back . I use Nivea and Dove moisturizing cream . ?

I had baaaad pimples a while back lol. Somehow nivea made my face very oily.
That's the thing about us, our biological makeup are not identical. What works for your face might not work for mines. That's the problem, that's why I try not to suggest any kinda products.

P.S Also be careful about the makeups and foundation you use. Some foundation [MAC] clogs up the pore, and is very hard to remove.
