Let's look at the scriptures in context, Ephesians 5:21-25

21 "Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God."

It is instructive that the scriptures say first that we all, whether male or female, as brethren in the Lord should submit to one another.

There will be cases when the husband is not right, the wise wife to be an asset in the home will need to present her case in a polite way. In cases like this, the man will have to agree with her, in the sense of submitting his pride and allowing reason to prevail.

However, if the husband fails to submit to her, probably because he did not understand her, yet, the wife must submit to her husband, not because she is the woman but because he is her husband, her God ordained leader. See verse 24.

22 "Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord."

In the home setting, it is expected that wives submit to their own husbands , not because they are women or as a gender thing. She ought to submit as is expected to the GOD-ORDAINED leader in the home which is her own husband , not another's because she is the woman.

The submission here is such as is expected from the led to their leaders. Again, not necessarily because she is the lady.

23 "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body."

This is how God has ordained the home to be. Nobody is expected to query that.

24 "Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing."

25 "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it."

Just as the husband should love his wife so also should the wife love her husband. The Bible says, love one another as Christ loves us.

I pray God gives us the proper understanding. The scriptures rightly testify that we know in parts. God is the Omniscient One.

Happy Sunday.

Well said Sir.

Note that just as the wife should submit to her husband as unto the Lord in everything, the husband is to love the wife as the Lord loves the church. That is, just as Jesus gave up His life for the sake of the church, the husband should be ready to sacrifice anything for his wife.

The truth is that if every couple would conduct their marriage as prescribed by the Bible, we will not be having marital problems and dysfunctional families we're seeing in our society today.

I am afraid that even this attempt at resolving what is in fact written in Ephesians 5, does not work with the teachings of Jesus Christ either. undecided

Again, Jesus Christ was clear when He declared that He and He alone is Master over all those who are His followers. He instructed His followers against submitting, in any way or form, to other masters.

Matthew 6 vs 24* (ERV)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
24*. “You cannot serve two masters at the same time. You will hate one and love the other, or you will be loyal to one and not care about the other.
So, whether a wife is right or the husband is right - if both are followers of Jesus Christ, they are both expected by Jesus Christ to submit to His own decision and His own decision alone. So, the husband submits to Jesus Christ(not his wife), and the wife submits to Jesus Christ(not her husband). That is what a marriage between two followers of Jesus Christ would be like - not what you have written there in your assessment of the erroneous teaching there in Ephesians 5 which departs from the teachings of Jesus Christ.

God never ordained anyone as a leader in any home. Please learn for yourself from the very teachings of Jesus Christ Himself. Jesus Christ instructed His followers against occupying seats of power/leadership over their fellow men. Does God contradict His own self? undecided

Matthew 20 vs 24-28 (ESV)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
24. The other ten followers heard this and were angry with the two brothers.
25. So Jesus called the followers together. He said, “You know that the rulers of the non-Jewish people love to show their power over the people. And their important leaders love to use all their authority over the people.
26. But it should not be that way with you. Whoever wants to be your leader must be your servant.
27. Whoever wants to be first must serve the rest of you like a slave.
28. Do as I did: The Son of Man did not come for people to serve him. He came to serve others and to give his life to save many people.”
Ephesians 5 supposes that by inserting the traditions beliefs of the people in as the teachings of Paul, one can very well, claim it is of God. But the Truth(Jesus Christ) commands against such traditional leanings and instead commands that His followers who want to be great in His Kingdom serve the rest as slaves. undecided

Overall, Jesus Christ is the New Covenant, the Law Himself as far as the Kingdom of Heaven is concerned. And He condemns every doctrine and tradition(commandments) of men as lies that His followers should avoid as people would a plague. These lies are meant to deceive and deprive people of the very Power of God. undecided

Mark 7 vs 1-13 (ERV)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Now when the Pharisees gathered to him, with some of the scribes who had come from Jerusalem,
2. they saw that some of his disciples ate with hands that were defiled, that is, unwashed.
3. (For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they wash their hands properly,[a] holding to the tradition of the elders,
4. and when they come from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they wash. And there are many other traditions that they observe, such as the washing of cups and pots and copper vessels and dining couches.[c])
[b] 5.
And the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, “Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat with defiled hands?”
6. And he said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written,
“‘This people honors me with their lips,
but their heart is far from me;

7. in vain do they worship me,
teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’

8. You leave the commandment of God and hold to the (doctrines and rules)** tradition of men.”
9. And he said to them, “You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition!
10. For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’
11. But you say, ‘If a man tells his father or his mother, “Whatever you would have gained from me is Corban”’ (that is, given to God)[d]—
12. then you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or mother,
13. thus making void the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And many such things you do.”
** substituted from another Bible translation for better understanding of what is impacted
Rather than propagating these doctrines, we ought instead to warn people against them. undecided
