Yesterday, Bishop Godfrey Onah was headed for Mass in one of the rural parishes in his Diocese which could not be accessed by car. So he hopped on the motorcycle of one of his flock.
He made attempts to avoid the camera, but someone ended up getting many photo shots of him.
When we see this sort of Christ-like leadership, we are reminded about gospel values such as humility, simplicity, modesty and frugality, especially in a society where being a minister of the gospel has been reduced to a career on the path to financial stardom, ostentation, opulence and a luxurious lifestyle.
Before being appointed Bishop of Nsukka in July 2013, Onah was a distinguished professor of philosophy and vice-rector at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome, the first black to rise to such position."
