AE- FUNAI HOSTS OFFICIALS OF FEDERAL MINISTRIES OF FINANCE, BUDGET AND NATIONAL PLANNING
The Vice-Chancellor, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu- Alike, Ebonyi State, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba, on Friday, 24th January, 2020, at the Vice- Chancellor’s Conference Room, hosted a team from the Federal Ministries of Finance, Budget and National Planning, and Education, who were at the University for the 2019 4th Quarter Budget Monitoring.

University Bursar, Alhaji Rafiu Aliu, who introduced the team to the Vice – Chancellor and other officers of the University present at the reception, stated that they were at the University, as representatives of the Federal Government, to monitor the utilization of funds released for AE-FUNAI Capital Projects for 2019 and ascertain the level of implementation as outlined in the budget template.

While welcoming the team, VC, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba thanked and appreciated them for what the ministries have been doing to support the building and development of Universities and other institutions of learning. He informed the team that the university has done a lot of projects in his tenure and that individuals and groups within the University go the extra mile contributing their personal funds and salaries to support execution of projects in the University, in appreciation of the good work going on in the campus. He further informed the monitoring team that the university had zero supply of electricity, but presently the first with solar electricity, pointing out that the university has built a College of Medicine with a project currently for installation of portable water in the campus. Prof. Nwajiuba added that the University has completed a lot of road projects. He used the opportunity to officially inform his guests that the young University has recently gotten NUC approval to run 61 additional programmes out of the 62 presented for approval in 2019.

A member of the 3 man team, Mrs Julie Uzor, of the Federal Ministry of Education, commended the Vice – Chancellor, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba for the level of transformation witnessed in the young but fast growing University, observing that the campus has serene environment with staff committed to work. She further emphasized that since she got to know about the university, it has never embarked on strike and that it was difficult to see leaders who could lead that way. She thanked VC, praying that God will continue to imbue him with grace and desire to keep up the good work in the university.

Leader of the team, Mr. Ndana Abdulrazau, also appreciated Prof. Nwajiuba for the warm reception he gave them, stating that God is in the institution. He reiterated that they were assigned to monitor the utilization of funds received for specific Federal Government Capital Projects in the University and that from what he has seen done in AE- FUNAI under the leadership of Prof. Nwajiuba, he would give his administration more money for projects, if he was in the position to do so. He urged VC to carry on with the good work.

The team continued with the assignment after the courtesy call on the Vice – Chancellor
