Disease kills 280,000 Nigerians in 4 years There are only eight teaching hospitals in Nigeria that have radiotherapy machines for tackling cancer which has become a menace across the 36 states of the federation, Daily Trust reports. The hospitals are: Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba; University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin; Usmanu Danfodiyo Teaching…

What do you expect of a country where the president and other top office holders seek medical care in UK and USA?

Last time I checked, there was no paracetamol in Aso-Rock clinic, so what's the fuse about Radiotherapy Machine? grin grin

If Yusuf Buhari was treated in a Nigerian hospital after the bike crash, he would have been long dead by now....

The dumb government officials enjoy good medical services in foreign countries but will never replicate and implement same in their country.... Rather they are quick to replicate the social media regulation they see in other countries.

I'm surprised the figures here went up to 8.

It has always been LUTH and Teaching Hospital Ibadan that had radiotherapy machines that had hundreds of people queuing up daily for their turn for treatment.

Eko hospital came to the rescue years ago, charging high fees for radiotherapy sessions.
Many people came from outside Lagos ( those who could afford it) cos they didn't want the chaos and bureaucracy at the government hospitals.

My question is this: why can't people like Dino Melaye who wastes no time in reminding us how very wealthy he has become invest in radiotherapy machines? Why can't senators come to our rescue with provisions of this machines and still make their profits from their investments?

Why can't artist like Davido, Tiwa, Wizkid invest in hospitals?

E-Money has what it takes to invest in a radiotherapy machine, at least in his home state.

Currently, it is ONLY LUTH that has a working machine cos it was privatized last year and is very pricey. How are the poor going to survive cancer in Nigeria?

It's a question I ask myself everyday.

1 in 3 people will get cancer, the earlier individuals rise up to this truth the better for us especially as Nigerians, who has NEVER had a reliable government since I was born.

Cancer is survivable as against what people are led to believe. With well equipped hospitals, we are definitely saving the lives of Nigerians, especially those who can't boast of 3 square meals a day let alone cancer treatments.

You are right, he refuse to buy them for us. Athifku would have bought at least 1000 units for our teaching hospitals. Infact, gej would have bought same number if he was reelected. angry

If the problem doesn't hit the political class directly
Then its not a problem.....
They can jet out anytime for medicals.

# in fact anybody holding political offices in Nigeria and his entire family should not leave the country for medicals...
You would see how fast they would fix hospitals in the country.

World Cancer Day.

Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy will NOT cure your cancer, neither will surgery.

Let your loved ones who have that illness know that Chemotherapy drugs are carcinogenic in nature i.e cancer causing drugs.

They kill cancer cells in one spot only to create cancer cells in other organs.

Both Chemotherapy and radiotherapy destroy your body's immunity and ability to heal itself.

Be forewarned.

Cancer is a multi-billion dollar industry, where both big pharma and doctors are cashing out big time.

Look for a naturopathic doctor to help you instead.

Cancer cells cannot survive in an alkaline environment. #FactsOnly

Please, if you are a medical doctor or your take home pay depends on how many chemotherapy drugs you or your hospital sells to cancer patients, don't quote me.

Not only that, in the few places where they have it they lack operators.
Radiographers are leaving Nigeria just as doctors are leaving as well as anybody with any meaningful contribution.
Nigerian politicians see anybody around as someone who has no means of alternative place and hence should endure whatever treatment he receives.
Typically like someone in prison.
