Do you always read and forget just within a day? Or even within minutes?
The article below discusses why that happens and how you can tackle it. After reading this, you'll know how to learn an not forget a SINGLE important detail.

How To Learn and Not Forget

No, You don’t have an issue with remembering. It’s just the way your brain works.
10 min read

Just yesterday, you read about the citric acid cycle. Today, you can’t even remember that the only enzyme of the cycle not found in the mitochondrial matrix is succinate dehydrogenase. “Not again, dumb-ass brain,” you might mutter and slap your forehead lightly in these kind of situations. But the truth is: You’re only wrongfully blaming your brain for doing it’s job.

But how can it be the brain’s job to forget when it has a “simple” task of storing and retrieving the things we need? The truth is that forgetting is almost as important as remembering.

Our day-to-day lives are cluttered with tons of needless details that may not be very useful. The brain has the hard task of filtering out these “useless” information from time to time. One study published in the Journal of Comparative Psychology, and cited by the American Psychological Association’s website suggested that forgetting may promote the ability to think creatively by making information that is no longer useful less accessible, so it does not interfere with access to new information or ideas.

The only problem here is that the brain may sometimes not be able to recognize what is really important from what isn’t; which explains why many important but specific details are often forgotten or hard to retrieve from storage.
But is there a way to continuously help our brain recognize what really matters and promote retention?
