Patrice Carteron, head coach of Zamalek said that he is proud of his side’s performance during their 3-1 win against Esperance Sportive de Tunis in the CAF Super Cup.


Patrice Carteron’s side Zamalek lifted their fourth CAF Super Cup trophy when they beat Tunisia’s Esperance on today (14/02/2020) in Qatar thanks to a Youssef Obama goal and an Achraf Bencharki brace.

Following the win, the Whites head coach Patrice Carteron commented on the game saying that he’s proud of his side and strongly believes they could’ve scored more than they scored.

Patrice Carteron said; “We’re very proud, it’s not easy to beat the CAF Champions League champions twice in a row. We know Esperance really well, they’re a very formidable side but we performed really well and we could’ve scored more goals than we did in the first half,” Carteron said during the post-match press conference.

“We lost a bit of concentration after the equalizer but we remained forecasted and confident. The entire team worked very hard and they deserve the win.

“I know that everyone back home in Egypt will be happy and we will celebrate tonight.
“We worked really hard on the tactical level because Esperance are a really strong side.

The players were exceptional and didn’t leave any spaces for the opponent, we were really good in the counter-attacks, we stopped all their crosses, and we could’ve scored more goals.

“I’m very happy with the team’s spirit, the result, and the win and now let us celebrate,” he ended.

Zamalek’s next game which is also a hard nut to crack is against bitter rivals Al Ahly in the Egyptian Super Cup on Thursday 20th February at 7 PM local time.
