Man City have not been transparent. Certainly, they could never have used only revenue obtainable from the club's direct earnings over this short period of time to buy and sustain the players they have, and generally run their affairs.

Sponsorship has sure been overstated over time. We wait and see how the final verdict turns out.

Manchester City recorded their European rivals' financial activities during their investigation.

Manchester City are in real trouble at the moment.
The Citizens were found guilty from UEFA of 'serious' breaches of Financial Fair Play (FFP) from 2012-2016.
As well as a £25m fine, they've also been given a two-year ban from European football, which could prove disastrous.
Man City have nine more days to appeal their ban and they have already announced their intentions to do so.
"This is a case initiated by UEFA, prosecuted by UEFA and judged by UEFA," their statement read.
Predicting Man City players' next clubs if they have to sell
Man City facing possible PL points deduction
Man City could be stripped of 2014 PL title
"With this prejudicial process now over, the Club will pursue an impartial judgment as quickly as possible and will therefore, in the first instance, commence proceedings with the Court of Arbitration for Sport at the earliest opportunity."
So on what grounds do they intend to appeal this ban?
The Athletic have gone into detail on what City will do now and it appears they intend to take their European rivals' down with them.

Paris Saint-Germain, who have spent ridiculous amounts of money in the past and have not been punished, will likely be a key talking point in their appeal.
Their reports reads: "It is likely they will use the result of an investigation against Paris Saint-Germain.
"This was eventually dismissed when the same UEFA prosecutor who has acted in this case, Yves Leterme, decided that the vale of PSG's sponsorship were more or less at the value tat PSG declared - despite an independent valuation suggesting they were worth much less.
"Even other key figures at UEFA were understood to have been alarmed by that decision and City are sure to have monitored it."
They have also recorded the financial activities of all their European rivals' and intend to publish their findings.

"City have also kept a studious eye on their European rivals' financial activities since they have been under investigation.
"They have been taking notes on transfer expenditure, on clubs receiving extra funds from sponsors and they could well argue that what they have been accused of doing is no worse than what others are doing."
So it seems that if City are going down, they intend to take their rivals down with them.
Of course, they are only doing this to prove that they have been doing nothing out of the ordinary.
But, if it is decided that City are still in the wrong, it could potentially lead to other clubs that have had similar financial dealings to be punished too.

Liverpool's 'spygate' may stop Manchester City being stripped of 2014 Premier League title
By Katherine Lucas 20:05 17/02/20

Things could be about to get even worse for Manchester City.
After the club was hit with a two-year Champions League ban, it's not just UEFA who can smell blood.
The Premier League are under pressure to follow suit by investigating whether the champions have breached Financial Fair Play regulations.
Despite reports that City could be expelled from the top flight altogether and banished to League Two - a similar fate to that suffered by Rangers in Scotland - nobody really expects that to happen.
A more realistic prospect is that their 2013/14 title could be taken away due to supposed irregularities in the period in question.
Liverpool, of course, finished second that season and are now wondering whether their three-decade wait for a title could have ended earlier if City were to be given a backdated points deduction.
However, not only would it be unprecedented for the Premier League to strip a team of a major honour, the situation may be complicated by Liverpool themselves.
The Times reference the Reds' recent 'spygate' scandal and suggest it poses another challenge for the governing body as they cannot be seen to let one club off a scandal while imposing sanctions on another.

Liverpool were accused of hacking City's scouting systems and the two parties ultimately settled on a £1 million agreement.
City could now use that case as a reference point for their argument that they are being treated unfairly.
That means the Reds may really have shot themselves in the foot.
It's a good job Jurgen Klopp's side are on course to get their revenge by finally getting their hands on a title of their own in just a few short weeks' time.

Man City appeal against European ban could leave Liverpool in dock over alleged hacking

EXCLUSIVE: Manchester City will "leave nothing off the table" when they appeal their two-year ban against playing in European competition for FFP breaches

Manchester City's bid to overturn their European ban could end with Liverpool in the dock over allegations that the Premier League champions-elect hacked into the Etihad’s scouting database.
Sunday Mirror Sport has been told that City will “leave nothing off the table” when they attempt to beat the two-year suspension and £25million fine levied against them by UEFA over FFP violations.
City will take a powerful legal team to the Court of Arbitration for Sport – and they will be armed with evidence that threatens to blow the lid off the murky work of football politics.
A central tenet of City’s argument will be that UEFA’s decision to punish them is based on an illegally-obtained raft of emails written by senior club officials that were taken out of context to deliver a guilty verdict.
The club’s servers were accessed by student Rui Pinto in 2015.

Pinto is currently being held in prison in Portugal awaiting trial after being charged with 90 counts of hacking, sabotage and fraud.

Klopp hails Liverpool players for creating their own history
Details of how Pinto was able to break into City’s systems - and his motivations for doing so - are likely to lead to questions on how City ramped up computer security after discovering in 2013 that their scouting database had been hacked.

A forensic investigation by an independent team of experts pointed the finger at some former City scouts who had left the club to join Liverpool.
A complaint to Anfield led to Liverpool agreeing to pay a £1million compensation package and both clubs signing a confidentiality agreement.
When details of the episode resurfaced last September, the Football Association decided not to take matters further due to the “age of the alleged concerns” and the fact that the clubs had agreed a financial settlement.
City will appeal their two-year ban from European competition
The FA did, however, offer the caveat that they would look again if further evidence came to light.
If full details of the Spygate matter are aired at the CAS hearing in Lausanne, it will put renewed pressure on Wembley bosses to act.
It could also draw the attention of the police, with offences under the 1990 Computer Misuse Act punishable by a two-year prison sentence and £5,000 fine.
It has not yet been decided whether City’s appeal will be opened up to media scrutiny.
Both UEFA and City would have to agree to the proceedings being reported.

City have appointed leading QC David Pannick to represent them.

The 63-year-old, who became Baron Pannick of Radlett when he was awarded a life peerage in 2008, twice defeated the government in their bid to hurry through Brexit .
First he successfully represented Gina Miller when she won her bid to prevent Theresa May from taking the UK out of the European Union without parliamentary consent two years ago.
And he also prevailed when Mrs Miller took another case to the UK Supreme Court, claiming that prime minister Boris Johnson had given unlawful advice to the Queen in his bid to prorogue parliament last September.
Baron Pannick will spearhead a daunting City legal team that also includes legal powerhouses Freshfields, Bruckhaus Deringer, Pinsent Masons and Monkton Chambers.
City have also retained the services of Geneva-based Kellerhals Carrard if they are ultimately forced to take their case to the Swiss Federal Court.

when City were fined £49million for FFP violations, chairman Khaldoon al Mubarek said he would “rather spend £30million on the 50 best lawyers in the world and sue UEFA for the next 10 years.”
City eventually stepped back from the brink – but will not be accepting any plea bargain arrangements this time.
A source familiar with the case said: “The word is that City will not accept any sanction this time – not even for £5.
“They are employing some of the best legal minds in the world to fight their corner.
“And the belief is that absolutely nothing will be left off the table in a bid to clear the club’s name.”

Man city erred by law under schedule 6 of the financial fair play laws of the UEFA.
The Appeal lacks merit.

And as a lawyer, what is your take on UEFA refusing to use legitimate documents and sticking to work with stolen emails as evidence?

You do realize this issue was first broached and Man City fined in 2014, with a statue of limitations of 5 years. This is 6 years after, and that's just one aspect of this case. There are other points City will use to open UEFA yansh

You are wrong. Sponsorship by Etihad was found to be reasonable. UEFA however said it's a "related" party, insinuating that Mansour has interest in Etihad and also from the "hacked" emails, they claimed Mansour was paying for the sponsorship himself and only using Etihad as a conduit.

The appeal will address this
