You can only if you backup your previous WhatsApp messages. If not, they gone forever. To avoid the same mistake, better back up the ones you have now

I don't think there is anyway you can get it back without first backing it up. By default, whatsapp only backs up your chats by WiFi, so if you don't use WiFi very well there is a problem. And the Google account you saved it with must be used to because the chat files are saved in your Google drive

If you don't back them up, I dear you cant restore them back.
In case of next time,
Go to settings,chat, then click on chat backup, but by default WhatsApp backs up messages except you had them disabled.

Op. What happened to the old whatsapp? If you swapped phones and still have access to the old phones you can restore from the local backup.
