it a commendable move but I hope the ideal behind it is pure. This rite has protected the royal families but now anyone can hide behind his religion and political backing to snatch power

This means there would be room for any deceased monarch in the state to be installed or buried in accordance with his or her religion or belief.

Interesting, so throw away Yoruba customs, tradition, and mythology - in order to use European customs, traditions, and mythology. What's the fundamental difference from the Judaic pantheon and the Yoruba one?

They have almost 1-to-1 correlation:
- Supreme Being: Olodùmarè:Yahweh
- Agent for humanity: Òrìṣà(s)/Jesus
- Understanding and Prophesy: Ifa/Bible
- Minor intercessors between the two realms: Irunmọlẹ/Angels

Why is the oyinbo version more valid than my own?

"Human dignity" yes that's the most important thing in life and in death. Simple burials for all.

Developed countries are inventing newer way to bury people to save the environment for future generations - Nigeria is too behind!!

Bill ? Bad idea! then they will dig into the wall and do more dastard act.

an executive order would have been in place after dialogue has failed.

moreso, law makers should start taking testimonies of witnesses and make it public, it works. ask CIA wat it does to them.

Nice one

Call for a decent solar plan for your home and businesses comprising a 1kva luminous inverter, 2*100AH battery and 4*150W solar module for up to 18hrs uninterrupted power supply daily. All for just #299,999

What is the cost, if the battery is reduced to 1, and the solar module to 2?

Help, anyone understand dis double-talk?

>>>The sponsor of the bill, Mr Balogun, opened debate on the bill titled, “HB No 36/OG/2020- A Bill for a law to provide for the Preservation, Protection and Exercise by the traditional rulers of their fundamental Rights to be installed and buried according to their Religions or Beliefs and for other related matters.”

He said the bill became imperative because there is a need to avoid archaic practices and embrace modern realities with a view to respecting the religious obligations of the traditional rulers during their installation and burial.

They are ending traditional rite on traditional rulers , it a pity our culture is gone

When a yoruba king dies, human heads are used for ritual rites, the corpse of the king is also eaten by his chiefs.

Yoruba don't discuss this cannibalism practice in their land but it is open secret that yoruba media will never write about.

They'll only write commentaries on it if it happens in Igboland or other parts of Nigeria that isn't yorubaland.

Oh boy, these oyinbo did a thorough job of brainwashing o. So good that 60 years after they left it's even stronger.

When did traditional beliefs become illegal in Nigeria?

Very soon Obas in that state will be banned from wearing native crowns, beads and attire. grin
Re: Ogun To End Idolatry In Installation, Burial Of Traditional Rulers by ajl: 7:48pm On Mar 06, 2020
Is this an attempt to westernize or islamize our tradition further? Why not just modify the traditional system rather than modernizing it. This is done from a western and Islamic religion point of view. Leave culture and traditions for those who want to practice it. It's not by force to be a king.

Why? "Idolatry" is a religion just like Christianity or Islam. The last time I checked there's freedom of religion in Nigeria.

What I don't subscribe to is shedding of blood. Otherwise this is a dumb move. The middle Eastern religion must not replace our own cultural religion. This must be resisted.
not a dumb move. Oro cultists have send many Innocent souls to the world beyond because I the cause of festival or observing oro rites.
Also they mandate a curfew during their rites which is against the law of the land.

On Buhari’s $22.7 Billion Loan.

The North is too greedy (70% of the loan is for the North). The funny aspect is that resources from the Niger delta will be use to pay back 90% of the loan. The North will contribute absolutely nothing to the repayment plan.

How can my neighbor borrow money to develop his land for his children and my children will be responsible in paying back the loans while his children contribute nothing! What benefit does the South derive from the North?
I think the south especially the Niger deltans are very foolish. Very, Very Foolish indeed!
I agreed with you honestly

"Said its passage would further redefine the state’s traditional system by putting a stop to act of cannibalism- a culture inherited from the dark ages".
These laws will end the barbaric acts of Oros, that has clashed & caused the death of innocent Muslims in Shagamu, Ede and other devils worshiping kingdoms.

What is barbaric about Oro? And it takes two to clash
Let you slaves calling yourselves Muslims who are willing to fight your ancestors and those that represent them because of an Arab religion learn tolerance. Oro existed in Yorùbáland before your Islam... Respect that
