The suppliers also have email addresses and contacts to reach them. Most business men dont travel frequently to order goods (its only done in the initial phase). Once they have a business relationship and trust with the supplier, business can be done online without being physically present.

this your scenerio happens with importing small goods

for goods with larger quantity, buyers are physically present on ground to negotiate

many middle and large companies have procurement teams they send to china and any countries anytime they want to purchase a product

they go every time

I think you should read well about what's going on in the states now about corona virus and what it's causing them.... Check how much they are loosing everyday coz of this.. Can Nigeria stand this? Am not sure.... Instead of facing your fellow for just speaking on the right thing to be done you itching out words... My point is just that we should do the needful... If America can suffer from this who are we... It's just the grace of God if we cant shut down bothers then proper screening should be done...

Go and do your research

The border close down was for only imported goods especially rice to boast rice production at home

Companies in Nigeria could export finished goods by road to other countries.

for small goods - yes but for large order -no

you have to meet the suppliers, to see product quality and also negotiate

Keep your pride and go over your mentions gently maybe your proper reasoning would be restored.

What are you talking about.

Do you have idea the number of patients/victims the facility we have for infectious diseases can entertain at a time ?

So wont the so called business you kept mentioning shutdown if there is outbreak

If all border is shut, how are you gonna import drugs, respirators and medical instruments to fight the disease.

Don't forget, you don't produce any of them.

Also who is going to source for them in the market that produces it.

When it unfolds like a pack of cards, it would be you that’ll beg for restriction then it would be too late. Is it not people that are alive that do business? You wanted a vibrant economy and prosperous country yet elected that illiterate. You think Italy France Spain New York enjoy shutting down their countries, they don’t like investors?

Which foreign expatriate would come to Nigeria if people start dying at the rate the Italians are dying? Just be here forming economic expert. Every country including Ghana are taking proactive measures and you still do not comprehend why.
sexylassie2:

But foreign expatriate who brings knowledge to run factories and foreign investors with money comes through air,

Nigerisn Business men and women who go to source for goods in other countries go by air but their goods by seaport.

Funny enough, you also need the drugs, foreign medical expert, medical gadgets and preventive to stop the disease

Where will it come from?

It is also from the border you closed down.

The outbreak of corona virus might make the economy fall drastically if care is not taken. Employees would loose their jobs so that everyone won't be affected. Markets may shut down to reduce the spread. What then would you do if we fall into a situation like this. What would your financial status be?

As a result of this, we have come up with an idea that would put food on the table of every Nigerian daily. This is an income generating idea that's set out to help many people largely. To know more about this income revenue, click here to join us and you will be glad you did.

The point you are missing

Is if Nigeria go broke because of total lockdown, you will go broke, we will all go broke, the virus will even spread fast because no cash to control it.

Don't forget we are a poor country, we depend on oil.

We also depend on expatriate to run many manufacturing equipment that gives us our oil out put and manufacturing output.

The govt is thinking of survival of everyone and not its collapse

A total collapse because of border shut down, the effect will be more than covid 9
Re: Public Health Advisory To Nigerians On Coronavirus Disease by CptCharlesVane: 9:47pm On Mar 17, 2020
But you people closed the border for months on na or have they been reopened or is it when it is about saving the lives of people you now rationalize about the economy? Didn’t you guys say closed borders promote local production? So why not produce the gloves and sanitizers and gadgets locally? Or weren’t people feeding their families before the Buhari government shut the borders ever since?

It is damn glaring from countries that have their healthcare systems currently overwhelmed by CoVid19 that they never took it seriously, like you are doing here until their parents and grandparents started dying and no room for any other operations in hospitals only Coronavirus. If they could do it over, it would be a shutdown early because once it’s in ...

There are many rural communities in Nigeria with just nurses if any at all in their clinics. This thing you’re rationalizing away about economy is capable of wiping out villages of aged people if left unchecked. Currently, there are not enough doctors in Nigeria and 9 out of 10 fresh graduates are taking exams to leave the country. You really don’t know what this is, check the numbers in Italy how it has progressed in days and yet to peak in a country with world class healthcare system. They now choose who to treat and who to let die

Well, hope you won’t be the person traveling up and down to go see your parents and aged relatives because you are young but ask the Italians, even young people get taken into ICU and need oxygen.
