بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Some Positive Effects of Covid-19

Social distancing is an important precaution the governments of all nations are enforcing. The schools, offices, malls, markets, places of worship, and the likes are closed. We are all forced to stay at home, stay safe. May Allaah protect us and the Muslims around the World. Ameen.

Do you remember?

Your major excuse not to regularly recite the Qur'an is because of your daily engagements?

Do you know?

Qur'aan shall intercede for its reciters on the day everyone shall need help.

Abdullaah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allaah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Fasting and the Quran will intercede for the servant on the Day of Resurrection. Fasting will say: O Lord, I prevented him from food and drink during the day, so let me intercede for him. The Quran will say: O Lord, I prevented him from sleeping during the night, so let me intercede for him. Thus, they will both intercede for him.”

Do you remember?

You have not been regular in Solat Dhuhaa because you are always at place of work?

Do you know?

Solat Dhuhaa suffices you throughout the day.

Abu Ad-Darda and Abu Dharr reported that :
Allaah's Messenger narrated that Allaah, Blessed and Most High said: "Son of Adam: Perform four Rak'ah for Me in the beginning of the day, it will suffice you for the latter part of it."

Source: Sunan Thirmidhee (475)

However, Solat Dhuhaa can be 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 raka'h.;

Do you remember?

You often miss your daily Adhkaar because you are in a haste to meet a target.

Do you know?

The Adhkaar is for protection and great rewards.

...and the men who remember Allaah much and the women who remember. Allaah has prepared for them forgiveness and a mighty reward. Ahzaab : 35

Abu Hurairah (May Allaah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) said, "He who utters a hundred times in a day these words: 'La ilaha illallahu, wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa 'ala kulli sha'in Qadir (there is no true god except Allaah. He is One and He has no partner with Him; His is the sovereignty and His is the praise, and He is Omnipotent),' he will have a reward equivalent to that for emancipating ten slaves, a hundred good deeds will be recorded to his credit, hundred of his sins will be blotted out from his scroll, and he will be safeguarded against the devil on that day till the evening; and no one will exceed him in doing more excellent good deeds except someone who has recited these words more often than him. And he who utters: 'Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi (Allaah is free from imperfection and His is the praise)' one hundred times a day, his sins will be obliterated even if they are equal to the extent of the foam of the ocean."

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Do you know?

Qaylulah is Sunnah!

The Qaylulah is a sunnah, it is a nap or rest (even without sleep) taken midday or when the sun is at its peak. It is usually taken before Zhuhr prayer unless the prayer is held early (in the beginning of its time) in which case it may be done afterwards.

You probably must have missed it alot. This is the time to pay attention to it.

Anas bn Maalik reported that the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said 'take mid-day naps, for verily Shaytaan does not take mid-day naps'

If you pay attention to Qaylulah, you have better chances to wake up at night for tahajuud.

They used to sleep but little in the night.

[Surah Adh-Dhariyat, Verse 17]

Their sides draw away from (their) beds, they call upon their Lord in fear and in hope, and they spend (benevolently) out of what We have given them.

[Surah As-Sajda, Verse 16]

'Abdullah bin Salam (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

I heard the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) saying, "O people, exchange greetings of peace (i.e., say: As-Salamu 'Alaikum to one another), feed people, strengthen the ties of kinship, and be in prayer when others are asleep, you will enter Jannah in peace."

[At- Tirmidhi].

Do you remember?

You have not been regularly observing 12 Sunan raka'ats daily because of your schedules.

Do you know?

Aaish'ah reported that “The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “Whoever prays twelve Rak'ahs other than the obligatory prayers, Allah builds a house for him in Paradise."

Do you know?

O student of knowledge, you have not been revising regularly because of tight schedules. Dear brothers and sisters, this is an opportunity for us to revise our texts and read those Islamic magazine we have been keeping.

Lastly,

Most of us probably do not have enough food at home.

Do you know?

A'isha, the Mother of the Believers (Allaah be pleased with her), reported that one day the Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him) said to me: 'A'isha, have you anything (to eat)? I said:'Messenger of Allaah, there is nothing with us. Thereupon, he said: Then , I am fasting."

Wouldn't you rather start fasting? Luckily, we are in the month of Sha'baan

The blessed companion Usama ibn Zaid, reported, that he asked Prophet Muhammad :
"Messenger of Allaah, I have seen you fasting in Sha'baan than other months." Prophet Muhammad , replied: "That (Sha'baan) is a month between Rajab and Ramadan which is neglected by many people. And it is a month in which an account of the deeds (of human beings) is presented before the Lord of the universe; so, I wish that my deeds be presented at a time when I am fasting."

The Prophet ﷺ advised:

“Take benefit of five before five: Your youth before your old age, your health before your sickness, your wealth before your poverty, your free time before you are preoccupied, and your life before your death”

Allaahu musta'aan wabihi nasta'een.
And Allaah knows best.

We tend to lose the spirit of It's Juma'h due to lockdown. Please don't forget to read your Kaaf today. It is Juma'h!
