Part of a building located at 47 Modebe Street, Onitsha, Anambra State collapsed, killing a child

According to IgbereTV reports, the collapsed portion is the lintel attachment to an existing structure.

After the collapse, officials of the State Physical Planning Board led by the Acting General Manager, Mr Nwabufo Anene and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Monitoring & Supervision on Lands and Physical Planning, Mrs Joy Nneli, visited the site, sealed and marked it for demolition.

Executive Chairman of the Board, Barrister Chike Maduekwe declared that such illegality cannot be allowed to exist in the State, stressing that the building will be demolished soon in line with government stipulated laws on controlled development.

Consequently, the developer of the collapsed structure was arrested by the police for prosecution.

Why would such tragedy befall an innocent child. A child that doesn't know what sin is and God couldn't save him, yet some people will continue to worship and sing praises to him.

You guys should be asking questions because I'm confused about this so called God.

99.328% of commercial buildings in Onitsha are older than Nigeria. I don't know why Onitsha people are so local, careless, wayward and rascal when it comes to safety.

Go there and take a good look at commercial buildings there, no renovation, rehabilitation and good maintenance. Nothing nothing!

Go to Awada, Upper Iwekka, Obodo Ukwu, Mgbuka, Fege and other places in Onitsha, you'll be dumbstrucked with the kind of outdated commercial structures you'll see.

Very anyhow people!!
